This is because the outer taillights have 3 wires on the Halogen type light , but every LED taillight has 4 wires connected.
The extra wires have to be connected on the 42 pin of the 258 5B and the 258 3B module of the BDC BODY.

If you haven't buy the extra wires and the connectos (you obviously haven't) , you can order them now.

The final step is to code your BDC BODY.
Hi Jkont

Would you know what the product code for the extra wires is?

Thanks.

I just saw in another thread of yours that you have the LED package !!!

So , as for the taillights retrofit ,YOU DON'T NEED the extra wiring.
Your mechanic only has to do the appropriate repinning and coding ofcourse!
He should have understand this by the way !

Has anyone have any info on what is needed for the non led package. I looked at my wire harness and I have the four wires just one wire color is different. So I should be able to order the kit and just re-pin and recode unless I need something else.

This is very strange !!!
The halogen taillights wiring diagram gives 3 wires.
In my car , where I have completed the retrofit , were 3 wires as well.
Why you have 4 ???
Tihs is the wiring diagram...

I ordered the retro kit and it should be here this Thursday. I will work in it over the weekend and let you know when it's done and works or what trouble I run into. I guess I'll try the re-pin of the wire first. For the four wires maybe do to a US spec ordered and bought in Germany.

Oh yes !!!
It's definetly the US specs !
US spec'ed cars have an extra outer light , I think.

So , everything will be much easier for you.
You will only have to do the repinning and the coding.

Order the retro tail light kit and come to find out that the harness is different. I have a rectangle plug on the out lights and the new lights have a small square plug. It was back to order the harness so we'll see once it comes if it is the right plug but the inside lights are the same rectangle plug.

Hi,

Just a quick update following conversion of the orange-looking pre-LCI tail lights to the Led LCI ones.

Here is the result:

And the bonus is that no coding was necessary.

You have to code the brake , reverse and turn lights from "bulb" to "led" and disable the cold/warm checks

Can anyone tell me if this light should be on or not that is circled. It is on both inner tail lights no matter if I have all lights on or just the parking lights but they are off when all lights are off. They also come on when I turn on day time running lights rear. I do not have rear fog light switch on head light switch.

Both your rear fog light and your brake light are always on and this is not normal.

This happens because BDC BODY parameters think you have halogen taillights.

In the halogen taillights there is a different mapping.

So you have to code your BDC ECU.

Hello,

thank you "jr1979", thanks to your tip I replaced the lamps with a prelift, I only have a question what was wrongly coded because the light bulb burns to ~ 50% with the LED. when I press the stop it lights up ~ 100%

I've coded the tail light from bulb to led and turned off monitoring as it say in past post. I might be missing something somewhere else.

You have to change 4 parameters (2 for each side) in the 3064 and 3065 section of the BDC BODY.

The "mapping" has to be set for the correct function.

Here you are :

Go to BDC BODY section 3064.
MAPPING_STANDL_H1_L_OUTPUT ---> sl_l

3065
MAPPING_STANDL_H2_L_OUTPUT ---> sl_2_l

These are for the left light. Do the correspodent setting for the "R"ight light.

Jkont

Thank you for that info. It's a life saver and now I don't have to worry about being pulled over by the Polizei for the rear fog lights being on for no reason.
