Steering wheel noise on low speed
Hello everyone,
I have a X1 from 2016 i sadly i got a strange noise coming from the steering wheel when i'm on low speed and when parking the vehicle. This noise has been confirmed by the BMW repair shop that is not a mechanic problem and it's nothing i need to worries ... but i simple can't avoid it Here's a small clip I've made to share and get some help on what can be done to solve this. Thanks |

that would annoy the hell outta me lol
try to remove the trim under the steering wheel (where the key goes to start if your fob is dead) & see if you notice anything rubbing when you turn the wheel. |

Very likely to be the front drivers side top strut mount. I had exactly the same noise under the same conditions. Just had mine replaced today at an independent specialist. Cost £224 all in with a genuine BMW part. Dealer cost would be around £600 as they tend to replace both sides, offside and nearside. It's a very common issue. My local BMW parts centre said they sell 200 strut mounts every month.

There's a few different ones depending on your suspension set up. If you give your VIN to BMW parts they can give you the part number. It was £90 + VAT. Complex job if you're thinking of doing it yourself requiring 3 BMW special tools!
