Stopping the hatch from opening

Hi guys

I had to transport a sofa today, it stuck out of the back of the boot while open. I closed the power boot down to close as much as i can. Ok so all good.
Drove off and after a while the boot started to open. I had to stop driving to close the boot again and drive off. This happened about 5 or 6 times.

Any ideas of how to lock the boot (hatch back) in place?

Thanks!

I am not sure you can disable this.. but what you could maybe do is go into the idrive and adjust the opening height to really low?

The automatic hatches have I think 3 adjustable heights.. just in case you have a low garage door and don't want to smack it. I don't know if the lowest height would have been enough for you though.

I have 5 settings for tailgate heights UK car (Would Like to think all cars are the same? )

have used the middle one before while transporting a large rolled up rug only a short distance, probably didn’t get over 20mph, the tailgate stayed put.

I wonder if disabling the contactless feature might prevent this?

Unfortunately my car does not have contactless boot opening. Could i still set the height opending settings in iDrive?
I only have the remote boot opening / closing feature on my key fob.

I guess the next time i have to carry a long item i'll bring some bunges or light rope to hold the boot lid down and some rags to protect the paintwork.

Thanks

Hmm that's odd... here in the States I thought it literally wasn't an option... ie automatically included. Still, if you have a power lift gate it seems odd not to have that one sensor. Go check your Idrive! Vehicle.. doors/tailgate.. and tailgate.
