Dinan intake for X2

Good Morning Everyone,

I have had my X2 since October of last year and have really enjoyed it very much so far. One thing I have been looking into doing is adding the Dinan Air intake. I have seen a few people on here that have added it already I am just wondering the following:

1. is any kind of warranty affected by adding this (I know the two companies work together in some fashion but just wanting feedback)

2. other than noise and appearance is there any benefit to the intake? (possible 5hp gain?)

3. For those who do have it did you install it yourself or have a authorized BMW Center (Dinan Certification) install it

Thank you!!!

Warranties are void only if they can prove that the part caused the problem. This goes back to the windshield wiper idea.. if you get aftermarket and your engine grenades, then you're fine. Although if your engine grenades they could possibly say the intake did it.. but that's reaching a little.

I wouldn't suspect you'd feel any increase in power. I put in my own custom intake and on the tune side of logging, no change. I would love to get it to a dyno. However, with my completely open intake my m35i seems to crackle more. So I would say it's an acoustic modification.

And as for installing.. all you need is a torx driver and a screwdriver. You would be a fool to pay someone install it, certified or not will not make a difference. I could swap it in less than the time it would take for you to brew a cup a coffee... maybe even in a keurig

Correct.. nobody right now has the right MAF slot for the m35i. I ended up making my own custom one by ordering pieces to put together.

I would think with the new mini jcw out, that there would be an intake that is compatible since we share the same engine, and mini owners tend to mod their cars...
