Best answer.. ours is actually called a "slot style" so it's a pretty narrow rectangle.

Not exactly sure what the first pic is.. the slot looks right, but there aren't any screw holes to see by reference.

Gotcha.. the picture on AFE's website is definitely NOT the right one.. but it will fit on the X1's round style MAF.. and possibly the X2's (I never looked at the loaner X2 when I had it). My presumption is that on the m35i and possibly some other newer BMW's they changed to this slot style.

This intake effort reminds me when I was R&Ding them myself back in 2012 when the 2013 Subaru BRZ came out. Looks like I may be doing the same thing.
