Impressed... Pilot Sport A/S3+

For those who might be interested... I just put on Pilot Sport all seasons after my stockers (Pirelli Centurato) wore out in less that 20k. I had Pilot Sport summers on my previous F30 and loved them but I was a little skeptical as to whether or not the A/S version would perform. I'm here to tell you these tires are excellent with all around improved acceleration, braking and cornering. Well worth the extra Benjamin I spent for the set.

Yea, is a solid performer for an all season. I went to the track on them on my 135i and they did okay.

I wonder how they do in snow.

I have the michelins on my Lincoln mkz 3.0 awd year round. They do well on the ice and snow. It is a 449 (tuned) at the crank awd. They do great in all the conditions here in oklahoma. It has been on ice and snow just not a lot.

I always wanted to try the conti dsw06(19 "), so I put a set on the X2m35i for the winter.

I like them so far. they are less bouncy and handle the road issues better than the 20'' run flats, after these winter/cold tires wear out , I am going back with the michelin pilot sport a/s 4 .

I installed the PS3+ A/S last week and have been happy so far.

It has been warm and therefore tricky to get the pressure tuned to my liking - right now I'm exploring the upper limit, they are close to 40psi and it's a little too high - they track well but they're transmitting a little more noise than expected, and the fronts can plow a bit in hard sweep cornering (on-ramp etc).

Temperature is headed down and I plan to explore the 34-36psi range. Maybe fronts 2psi firmer than rear, not sure.

Anyone else with the 19's have any input on pressures? Any tweaks to them for snow?

We have the DWS06 on a Volvo XC60 and they are overall quite good, but a little less capable in snow. The AWD really comes into play. I considered putting them on the X2, but felt the PS3+ would be better for it, in our winter.

Personally , I like the mich ps as3 ride better than the conti. That said the conti is a quieter tire imho

Ok things are WAY better at 38psi, it's clinging to corners and much quieter than the higher pressure.

I predict 36f/34r is going to be even better. One way or another, good riddance runflats.

The grip and road noise improved further at 36psi all around. Usually I find running a little over the recommended pressure is best, I guess not in this car/tire.

Lowering the rears to 34psi made a slight improvement, hard to say for sure. It's 40F and wet here today.

My Dunlop runflats are still good, but I got a very good deal for the PS3+ almost new, so I took them. I might swap runflats for them next summer.

For winter, there are no snow yet here. I have Nokian tires tho. I am exploring too. For few days, it was 68F and the pressure was up to 39psi, I found the handling better than at 36. Since yesterday, the temperature drops to 36F in morning, I feel it softer at 35psi, too soft.

My impression is I'll have to keep it at 38psi.
I was thinking to try all 38 and then 38 front/36 rear.
Nokian is surely different than PS3+.

Which Nokians? I love their Hak winter and Ziex summer tires, not so much the all-seasons.

I have the Hakkapeliitta R3. First time with them, but I had the R2 in the past on an Acura TL AWD, I loved them. I liked them better than the Pirelli Sottozero 3 on my spouse car.

I was considering go to with the Hak. 8 or 9 studded for this winter, but changed my mind because I always drive in the city. No need for studded. R2 was good on iced road, I believe the R3 will be too.

R3's are great, I have them on my Volvo. It's true that they run better with a slightly higher pressure, they can squirm when low. But the squirm helps them grip better in snow.

Because I see some marking on the side of the tires, I just find this:
https://www.nokiantyres.com/customer...a-winter-tyre/

"The indication has been that the number should be 0,2 bar (20kpa) higher than the recommended summer tyre pressure."

0.2 bar = 2.9psi
Now I have to go out again and add 1 more 1psi.
