Sorry, on checking the other thread https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1598332
it would appear to be a different transmission problem. |

Rather than keep guessing, if it was my car, I'd read the error codes in the transmission module and go from there. There must be an error code set [in the transmission module].

Like others have said, get an obd 2 scanner and read the codes, is this your DD?
If you're in the us or ca you can go to autozone or advanced and I think they'll let you use their scanner to read the codes, it might not find all of them which is why a bmw specific one is recommended, alternatively you can pay bmw for the diagnostic, it's usually like 100$ or so. If you use the autozone one post the codes and someone may be able to better guide you. When you get the error do you hear or notice anything different in driveability? Does the CEL come on? Does the car go into limp mode? Is there any pattern as to when you got the error that you can think of? Both times you were driving on the highway or you had just turned the car on after sitting idle for 2 weeks? Is your car x drive or s drive? Posting just a pic and a sentence or two won't get you much help, we don't know the history of your car and don't know how it was reacting when the message and error came up or how it was driving when normal so it's hard for anyone to get an idea of what the problem is, especially with no error codes to go off of. I hope you get your problem sorted and post updates when you know more. |

Did they check the codes to see what, and which ones were stored? Glad it worked out but that's something that would sit in the back of my mind constantly. Hopefully no more problems mate |

I've been following this forum since I got my CPO 2016 X1 in Oct of 2018. It's been pretty much problem free except for the sagging sunroof shade. Today I got the same exact error as the first post of this thread. I was already pulling into my driveway, so I could not tell if my car went into "limp" mode or not.
I attached a picture what the ODB scanner showed. I Googled both "bmw p126b" and "bmw 07e8". The former talked about wastegate actuator the latter about ignition coils. Does anyone have any insight as to what the issue is and how much to fix? I'm about to hit 82k miles and my CPO lapsed a year ago. Was hoping to keep the car for another year before jumping to an EV. It's been surprisingly capable for my family of 4 (wife, 1 year old, 3 year old) Thank you |
