How do I check for Oil Cooler?

I got a 2009 E90 about a week ago. Has Sports Package and Steptronic.

How do I check and see if it has the "Oil Cooler" that people have been talking about getting or not getting over the years?

look at your passenger side wheel well. if you see something that looks like your intercooler that's it you should def have.

OK, I'm an idiot, but I don't know what the intercooler will look like (externally anyway).....

Do a search, there are some pictures elsewhere on the forum. It looks almost like a metal air filter. It should be on the forward side of the wheel well, and there isn't one on the driver's side.

See these photos. The first one is the oil cooler in the passenger side wheelwell. The second one is the turbo intercooler at the lower part of the front, below the bumper.

Looking at that photo, I wish someone can modify the brake air duct, and add another duct to the intercooler. hmmm,

I believe there is one in place. At least in my E92/3 M-Tech front kit there is one. It takes in air from the fog light housing.

Thanks - those ARE great pics!

I tried seeing what I could through the top of the engine compartment, but everything is just so crammed in there that there is no way for me to see whether I've got an oil cooler or not.

With a 2009 E90 ZSP Step, for now I will just have to assume that it came with an oil cooler from the factory....

Ummm...no one said you should look into the engine compartment to look for the oil cooler!

As someone mentioned above, you can see a small metallic radiator if you look into the front of the passenger wheel well. Please help us help you!

OK, thanks - the pictures showing the entire bumper removed threw me off...

I did check the front of the passenger wheel well, and there is a metal radiator.

So, my 2009 335i ZSP Step DID include the oil cooler!
