Full Screen Carplay in 2020 X1

Has anyone here found a way to enable full screen CarPlay on their 2020 F48? I reached out to a programmer who was posting on another model forum but he said that there isn't an option for the X1 right now.

Thanks!

Wow, thanks for making this thread. Just got my 2020 last night and am looking to do the same.

Was hoping to do this in Bimmercode but I don't believe that's an option

+1. It's weird that BMW decides to allow only partial screen in CarPlay. Main reason that I mostly use the OEM Navigation. Looks way better.

OEM nav has always let me down in the city and in traffic, for that Google Maps or Waze far outshine it for me.

The only reason I go back to OEM NAV is the HUD, Carplay navigation apps are currently not supported by it.

I know that in the 2 GC with iDrive 7.0, full-screen CarPlay and mirroring of nav apps to the HUD are cited new features. Those of us with iDrive 6 are SOL.

I´m afraid he is right, it has to do with your ECU.

Within Bimmercode there is a hidden feature to make Carplay fullscreen, but that just stretches the 2/3 screen you normally have over the entire screen! Making the icons look like squashed balls :-(

I want iDrive 7.0!! But that is also a no-no based on my VIN apparentely.

We probably don't, it's almost always for the more full featured head units, not the ENTRYNAV2 that the X1 and X2 run.

This stuff is entirely software, shouldn't matter what your hardware is. There is always a solution that a good coder can do, most times it will void your warranty though.

Actually no, there are significant limits as to what can be accessed and coded in the ENTRYNAV software vs the NBTEVO and older units because of how the core OS is accessed.
