So every time BMW tries to make something different, sleeker, pushing the envelope, everyone cries because it looks like a Korean car? I seriously can't see that. Kudos to Korean automakers for trying something different, thing that automakers like Audi certainly never heard about it.

And don't worry guys, the G30 reveal its getting close. Those who like boring and bland designs, glorified 3er interior, will be very pleased with the g30. Just like the 7er..a "success"..in being boring as fck.

I'm sure the design won't be so extreme and will be toned down to make it more "BMW-like". The kidney grilles will likely revert back to a more typical shape and the headlights won't be so anglular. Overall, the concept and the idea of where the X2 is heading looks a lot better than its competition IMO.

I've seen this "car", and it is very small. People need to put this into perspective, it's the size of a mini clubman. This design works because of the size and many features would not translate to a larger platform, like the "5er".

This is a "production concept". Much like the X4 concept is to the actual X4.

Indeed I did. I've had the CLA45 on the brain all day in anticipation of its new competition, the RS3 sedan, which just broke cover (thread in M3/M4 vs. forum).

Anyway thanks for the correction. I've fixed my post.

I agree though, about the power concerns. BMW need "T" variants of the B48 and B58 ASAP!
No B58 for UKL, but, yes, they need to pump up the B48 near 400hp like Mercedes has done with the M133, or even Volvo with the new engine in the S60 Polestar (more power than the previous I6 it had, in fact). Even VAG had their EA888 over 400hp, despite having the I5 for that job, until they recently killed off the program (probably because someone finally asked "Why?" given said I5).

This is a great design. BMW produces great concept designs. Unfortunately the BMW production car is always watered down, conservative and bland. Plus each production vehicle is so watered down and so increasingly conservative that they look like numerous other BMW models and Japanese knockoffs of tired conservative BMW designs. BMW has beautiful deign ideas that unfortunately go through a design committee aproval process that yields bland production car design.

The current (non M-sport) X3 has the same black trim around the wheel arches and the rocker panels. It's very common on SUVs / CUVs. For example, the GLA has it as well. It appears on the Audi Q3 as well, depending upon how you option it.

'Shocking' designs for public consumption don't sell in high numbers based on BMW's take rate formulas.

Nice X2 concept IMHO.

-Enjoy the drive

The kidneys look bad and upside down. Besides that, I don't hate it. At all.

Bigger wheels? What are those, 21"? And a SAV/SUV/whatever isn't meant to be slammed.

Yes, they are 21" per the press release. I had a laugh at the "bigger wheels" comment too.

I'm sure it's going to look 90% like the concept but those headlights are not going to be on the final design. If it is, I will be absolutely shocked. The overall design might make it to final production, but it's the details I think will differ from the production model. But that's just me.

Nice red color. Shame you won't be able to buy one in red if you choose M-Sport.

As it's a concept this is as good as it will get surely? That's pretty much the M Sport X2M variant on huge wheels. I agree though, looks good and if it does have a sportier look than this, great news.

There's precious little room to drive fast in our traffic congested world, so we're abandoning our traditional sports sedans for something "practical." Most importantly, the ground clearance of that SUV will help considerably in the event of adverse conditions like rain or, god forbid an inch of snow...
