Scratch on BMW alloy rim

Hi all,

Toady, not sure how it happened, but I got a scratch on my drivers side - rear rim.

Any ideas how I can easily get this out? I read about using Meguiar's Car Scratch Remover ScratchX 2.0
https://www.amazon.ca/Meguiars-G1030...18877802&psc=1

Another product I read is good is Mothers 35100 Mag and Aluminum Polish
https://www.amazon.ca/Mothers-35100-...mg_top?ie=UTF8

Any thoughts? Anything better people can recommend?

You've scratched through the paint. Polish can dull the edges of the scratch and make it less visible, but it can't replace the paint that's been removed.

Find out what your wheel color is and order the touch up kit. Once you have that, the process would be identical to repairing a scratch on a car.

Here's a video that explains the process well.

This probably seems like overkill but I assure you it's a great skill to have. Any scratches or chips that show up on our vehicles, I can repair in about 30 min without breaking a sweat.

Yeah, I have a scratch almost exactly like that on the same wheels. Probably deeper than the clear coat, so a polish won't eliminate it. I'd recommend taking to a shop that restores wheels - maybe they can do a touch-up for a reasonable price using techniques similar to the video above. Touch-up kits can be frustrating to master, so if it's not a skill you want to use regularly, just pay an expert. I've never received a quote, but it should only require 1hr of labor, so I'd expect to pay around $100-150.
