emit a co2 by product. So all homes are going to be electric now, Good luck with that.

Except in summer when everyone tries to run their AC, and then all homes will be zero emission from the blackouts.

I understand their goal, but you can tell the policymakers are clueless.

At least it won't be until 2030. I predict a run on nat gas water heaters and furnaces starting in 2028. Just replaced the furnace with a top-of-the-line Goodman so that's gonna last a while. Assuming we're still in this once-golden-now-more-like-golden-shower state, I for sure will be getting a new water heater in 2029, no matter what condition my current unit is in.

I mean, what could possibly go wrong with forcing everyone onto electric units? It's not like we ever have power emergencies... oh, wait, they were begging us to turn off the A/C a couple of weeks back. And we're going great with battery storage... except for that fire in Moss Landing last week, I guess. And prices here are so reasonable... everybody's paying at least $0.42/kWh in this country, right? And rates don't go up more than 7%/yr, so it's not like it'll cost $0.70/kWh by 2030.... wait, sorry, calculator says I'm wrong.

People who don't live in CA have the most concern and most to say about CA.

To be fair, a lot of the emissions laws that start out in California are later adopted by other states.

Where are they going to get the electricity? They already don’t have enough for the load now.
We (British Columbia) send 79% of all our exported electricity to California right now, and our government is on the same path to lower greenhouse gas usage, so we are going to have less to send as we will need it here.

In addition to where the additional electricity is going to come from with the all electric vehicles only for new cars in 2035, it's going to be the cost per household for your electric bills. So now you have an electric car ramping up your usage and your HVAC/hot water systems. I don't know how weather is out there in Cali in terms on how much heating is required in a normal year. But I know of friends over here in the Mid Atlantic with heat pumps for their home. They've said if the temperature dips enough where auxiliary heating is required, you might as well start burning your dollar bills for heat.

I have a heat pump style hot water heater at my vacation home but it's hard to say how much energy it uses. With my limited use of it, it seems to be pretty comparable to my natural gas hot water heater at my primary home....for my uses.

It's not what we want, it's what our overlords want. Newscum wants the same "New Green Deal" that The Fascist Four in DC wants, or more.

He has banned all small gasoline engines (lawnmowers. leaf blowers, generators, etc.) and all natural gas powered appliances (water heaters, ovens, fireplaces, etc.). I don't remember when these bans start and I'm too lazy to look it up right now.

He has also decreed that 1/3 of all new car sales be BEVs starting 1/1/25. I believe the irony was totally lost on the dolts that voted for that idiot when two weeks after Newscum declared the state would be totally electric and not rely on any fossil fuels and totally on "renewable" energy, the operatoesnofn the power grid called a "flex alert and asked/told people to NOT charge their cars!

When we were younger adults in the 80s and 90s / buying our first homes in the northeast (I have since relo'ed to FL), we were always *ALWAYS* advised by realtors, parents and older more experienced people - DON'T BUY A HOME WITH ELECTRIC HEAT because it was astronomically more expensive.

This summarizes the lack of any benefit from the plan both financially and environmentally pretty well. https://homeguides.sfgate.com/compar...ter-61395.html

There's too many liberals here. It's a slow march to death but it's still liveable if you stay in certain areas. Truf

California is a very large state with many climates. In certain parts people will definitely need auxiliary heat, and if that's electric they are going to see very high bills.

I believe Berkley was the first local jurisdiction to ban gas appliances in New constructions.
What the Newsom just signed will ban the sale of all new natural gas-fired space heaters and water-heating appliances by 2030.
I don't see any mentioning of Gas Stove/Range so I am safe to enjoy cooking with natural gas and "killing" my family with "pollution"

Are people still allowed to BBQ with charcoal or propane in their backyard in Cali?

Newsom has not stopped it but many local cities have stopped it in new construction.

Yes, we are still allowed to have BBQ with Charcoal or propane!
We do have what they called Spare the Air Day and they ban all wood burning such as firepits, fireplaces, etc. Barbecues are permitted on a Spare the Air Day, but are discouraged and the use of lower-pollution gas fuels rather than wood or charcoal is recommended.
It costs $20 to exchange a 20lb propane tank here (maybe slightly cheaper if refill).
