People who park right next to you

I have come to the point that I videotape my car when leaving it parked in sketchy areas.

I had one park 9 inches from me at Merc World in Surrey some time ago..from my drivers door with plenty of other spaces to the left and right. It was a LHD 80's vintage 3 series and I had to enter my car though the passengers side but before I left I put a note on his windshield saying if he had a brain he'd probably be dangerous.

This happened yesterday. Parking lot completely empty except for me in the back and someone who couldn't find another spot amongst the 100 open spots!

I think the people that do this are the same people that will wait in a line or consider waiting in a line because they see other people waiting in line without having an idea of what the line is for. I don't think the majority of these people have a malicious intent in parking next to you in the middle of nowhere. They're just doing it because they see you doing it.

With that said it can be pretty annoying. Had someone park so close to me one time I couldn't get in my car through the driver's side door. I was already in an irritable mood and was driving a POS car at the time. I "accidentally" full force opened my driver's side door a couple times....barely damaged my door since it was an older vehicle made with heavier, more robust metal. Couldn't say the same thing for the other person's car.

LOL, agree. I used a wide angle lens and it still did not capture the entire parking lot!

When I saw it from afar, I was a little frustrated at the fact he parked next to me. Upon closer observation, I saw that he left room between the cars and folded his mirrors. So I think he parked next to me because he knew I wouldn't ding his car. I guess I should thank him for protecting the space next to my car?!

I work in an ER and this where we park outside it. These spots were sized for AMBULANCES. They are super wide. One of my coworkers came in and confessed to me that she opened her door and hit my car. Thankfully just a small ding on the mirror I might not have noticed otherwise, but I was like, how did you possibly park that close to me in a space that large? She was like, maybe you are over near the edge? Nope, I'm anal about parking in the middle of the space.

You know, I said that to be funny, but this brings up a question I've had. I don't watch p0rn regularly, but I do listen to several "thinker" podcasts and they all seem to vilify it. Still unsure why. Anyway, always found that doing it was better than watching it, so I'll leave all the fuss to them.

I think he didn't want his ride to stick out like a sore thumb, theft deterrence, maybe other safety issues? Or he wanted to go across the street and that's the closest spot? Ya, for sure I'd park at least 1 space away if I had those concerns though, at least he least plenty of space.

This is a great support group for those of us who have to deal with the 99% of other people that do not appreciate their car, but only see them as a mode of transportation/instrument that takes them from point A to point B. And see other people's cars as such and don't really care about door dings, scratches, nicks, etc.

How the hell did she try to turn it around on you and suggest that it might be your parking that caused her to ding your mirror. EVEN if you were parked near the edge of the spot, doesn't giver her the right to ding your mirror. Major assumption, but she sounds like someone who will always blame someone else for her own faults.

She's actually super since and genuinely seemed to feel bad about it, but it doesn't remove the fact that she is apparently an oblivious parker.
