What is lack luster? I am guessing you are talking about straight line numbers? What normally aspirated cars are you comparing it too?

There is YT video of it getting back to back 10.5's at 130mph(in 100+ degree heat) and 0-60 in 2.2sec.

All while having big aero for the track. This is a track car, not a straight line speed car(of which it is pretty damn quick actually).

Exactly, this isn't some forced induction exotic. It is more aimed at targeting a GT3 and GT3 RS, actually rivals 992 Turbo straight line speed.

Car&Driver
992 Turbo - 1/4-Mile: 10.3 sec @ 133 mph
C8 Z06 - 1/4-Mile: 10.5 sec @ 131 mph

This thing is a normally aspirated beast and has all the goodies for pumping out lap times while producing smiles doing it. The straight line normies that want to still get smoked by Plaids can wait for the ZR1.

It is very quick. Nice piece of engineering. I hope it proves reliable, too.

sure. the z06 is offering 992 turbo (base, not S) levels of performance for FAR cheaper. until you start playing the mod game and throw a tune on the turbo or put a similar cup tire on it. 992 turbo is still a feat of engineering in that it weighs the same as the the z06 and has back seats with awd.

i think they will target different people though. the turbo can be used every day in all sorts of weather and has back seats for young kids. for those chasing the exotic sound and thrill the z06 is an easy choice here.

the tougher comparo will be the R8 vs Z06. z06 being more track oriented, the R8 more street. both pumping out similar straightline numbers, weight, and exotic sounds.

Holy shit, not bad for a “pig” as people call this.

Now it’s a supercar. We need more track numbers but yeah, this is gm’s first supercar!!

Good job gm!

GT3 IMO, new GT3 RS is next level, as it should be coming out later, but they've really thrown tons and tons into it with all the active aero, ducting, etc. It's obvious they are stretching rear engine to the limits. I wouldn't want to drive that on the street, as they've seemed to make the difference between the GT3 and GT3 RS pretty extreme now, with the RS technically being "street legal", but not in a practical way.

I knew it would be good, but I'm still surprised how good it is. GM really hit it out of the park. It really is an American 458.

Faster by a second at the short Monticello track than GT3 and Huracan STO. About 1:20.55

Huracan STO: 1:21.90
GT3: 1:21.69
Black Series: 1:19.42

Uh-oh. Hahaha.

extremely impressive time. The guy in the STO is getting his spine battered day to day and has no trunk. the z06 driver can leave the track, pop the targa off, hit comfort mode, and has two trunks.

I wasn't comparing the Z06 and Turbo in terms of buying one over the other. Only as an example that the new Z06 was getting close to forced induction acceleration numbers. I am fully aware what FI can accomplish in the aftermarket, there will be an ZR1 for that. Anyone saying the Z06 numbers are lack luster for a NA car, is kinda ridiculous. The hp/tq GM is getting from 8cylinders is actually insane, with a warranty. R8 is still quite a bit slower in 1/4 mile with 2 more cylinders and awd.

Enough about straight line numbers, this car about so much more than that.

Very impressive, also considering in the R/T article they said there is more time in the car.

Caption under the lap video:

A lap of Monticello's North Course in the Corvette Z06. And yes, it can definitely go quicker.
Lap Times seem easily accessible, unlike some Vette variants in the past.

The remarkable thing is how consistent and accessible all that speed is, and how you can stay far below its limits and still feel engaged. So many high-performance cars isolate you from the experience unless you’re on the edge. The Z06 makes you part of the equation at any speed, the wild engine and communicative controls keeping you involved at all times.

Savagegeese guys said the only car that came to mind that compared to the Z07 pack car they drove, was the 992 GT3. Saying the Z07 had front end grip/feel of the GT3 is highest praise a car could get. Nothing felt synthetic, drives better than most modern supercars.

R/T thoughts on Z06 on the road.
Quote:
Everything else that was so good on track transfers to the road. The steering is still quick, the engine still a masterpiece, the gearbox denies fewer shifts, and it's still fun even when you go slowly. Even though this is a track-oriented car, most owners will have it on the road, so it still needs to function like a Corvette. It’ll sit on the highway at 80 mph in eighth gear, quiet and comfortable. The rear wing on the Z07 pack could’ve been higher, but it would’ve restricted rear visibility as well as trunk access, which would make it particularly hard to store the top in. And if you’re wondering why this hardcore track car doesn’t have a fixed roof, it was designed as a targa first and buyers want to have it all. If the base car has a targa, those getting the Z06 want one too. Why restrict it?

Braking & skid pad, off the top of my head, are very similar to the C7Z. That's what my point was. Nothing about other makes or the below times I said we already knew way before the embargo was lifted

We already knew the car was going to run 10.6 (and that's normally a conservative number given GMs history) so no surprise there nor is that new news. We also already knew the 0-60

& let's not forget that most people, myself included, will NOT be ordering Z07 or carbon wheels, forget about BOTH. Most of the production Z will be heavier and around 4k lbs with driver. So what does your base spoiler, no Z07, no carbon wheels Z run? Those numbers need to be seen too, not just top of the line all the options.

If I ever get my number called, I want fully loaded no wheels. Aftermarket wheels will be in the first 3 mods with full wrap and exhaust😃. Probably 2026. Lol
