Question for future 2007 e90 purchase
Hello all. I am saving up for a 2007 e90 and just wanted to get some opinions on a couple of options I am looking at.
I am most likely going to get a 325 and also due to the snowy climes here, going to get the AWD. I want to get the 17 in wheels, my question is do you guys think the AWD w/ sport pkg is the best alternative or is there an option to add 17 in wheels w/o sport pkg? I was reading the description of the sport pkg and it describes the upgraded wheels and seats but doesn’t really say anything that I saw about the suspension. I didn’t know if anyone had an AWD w/ ZSP and if it still drove with the sportier feel. Also, for those 2006 e90 owners, what changes, if any, would you like to see and think are feasible to be made for the 2007 e90? Thanks for any and all replies, this site is awesome and I can’t wait till I am able to give advice as an e90 owner. |

I came from years and years of AWD with Audi A4's and a 911 C4. I was very hesitant to get a RWD car but I was totally suprised by the DSC. This car handles very well in the wet, ice and snow. Indy winters are a bit better than those in Minneapolis too.
Really think of where you want to spend your money before you limit yourself to the xi as the only option. Go drive the 325 and 330 on a crappy day to decide. With the money you save on the AWD you may want to bump to 330.

I agree with Cat. It is most likely that with proper snow tires, RWD may be just fine for your location. Obviously, it is your call; We are just bystanders.

Thanks for the replies, I will have to do a test drive with just the RWD in the snow to see how it feels to me.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get 17 in wheels on the 325 w/o getting the ZSP, besided aftermarket? |

Is it just me??? Why do the US call their new cars by the next years number. My car is a 2005, not a 2006. No-one owns a 2006 car yet! It's impossible - It's not 2006 yet! We haven't got long to wait though. All the best for the new year. 2007

Why? Is it only BMW that do this in US or all manufacturers? |

I agree with Cat as well (ex Audianer) and the winters in Montreal ARE brutal.
For 2007 you are likely to get the new engine (which really is the same engine just with more hp and likely nominally more torque). I am guessing you'll be drivin' a 235 hp car. Make sure you consider the 325 w/o the "x" factor. I think that BMW sells 17 inchers which you can hagle for with your dealer. |

Thanks for the input, I will definitely look at the non-x, the more I think about it we typically only get 4 or 5 days of really bad conditions, so probably not worth it to get the x just for those days.
Any other thoughts on possible changes for the 07 model, maybe bring back the amber lights on the rear or interior changes - hopefully the ipod integration that the e46 has. |

The USA get a bit strange sometimes and calls any change during the year a new model year, causing some march 2005 cars to be called 2006 models. Here we work on calendar years. Few people want to buy a car in December here, because if you register it on say 30 December 2005, its called a 2005 model, and you would loose a years depreciation on it for trade in on 1 January 2006 |
