Washing The Car By Hand/alarm

I would like to wash my car ( by hand) in my driveway, however, how do I keep the alarm from going off ( and annoying the neighbors) when I'm washing the car. I thought I could just unlock the car ,but a couple of minutes later, the car locks... would my alarm get activated again... Not too dirty yet, just got it( Mineral White) and I keep it in the garage, but it may have to be washed sometime,LOL Sorry if this is a stupid question..

After you unlock your car, you need to open one of the doors then close it. BMW alarm will arm itself if no door is opened within a short period of time after disarming the alarm (I think it's something like 40 seconds).

If you don't want to accidentally trigger the automatic trunk opening or lock the door from touching the front door handles, I would recommend not carrying the key on you while you wash the car. It would save you some aggravation.

Yep. I have experienced this many times when showing my BMW's a little love. I finally just made it a point to set the key on a table about 12 feet away while I was the car. It gets annoying very quickly with the alarm chirping unlock and re-lock constantly.
