Looks like ALL the M4 GTS's are delivered this way - with the splitter mounted on the wing.

My M3 came in an enclosed truck, maybe I got lucky or perhaps it's the dealer's choice on how much they want to spend on transport.
In most of the world cars are delivered on open trucks and trains.
You only really see the closed type in the USA

Here they would transport them on open trucks for journeys up to about 2 days driving.
Else they use trains.
No closed trucks

Standard open BMW car train in Europe

Has nothing to do with it.
Closed car transporter trucks are extremely rare outside North America

$140k car being stacked like Hyundais on an open truck? I get that it might not be cost effective to use closed transport (I mean that would be ridiculous for the price of this car right?) but absolutely no cover? Audi's are shipped with body tight white car covers... there is no reason why BMW should risk these limited production models to the elements of transport (weather, rocks kicking up, etc) when they spend countless time at the factory perfecting the body work.

I would agree that Audi and Porsche does a much better job at protecting their cars during transport. It would be nice if BMW also uses those white covers.
