VW to cut up to 4,000 jobs via early retirement

Interesting that VW is announcing this now. Vehicle sales have been pretty strong in the US. Not sure about ROW. Last I heard, Chattanooga was producing at a brisk pace.

Possibly the German job market will start to feel impacts such as this, because of a delayed reaction to 2020's global "event". It could be a cultural difference between German and US companies. In the US it's comment to cut early, deep and repeatedly when the sniff of a crisis is on the winds. It seems German corporations take a more measured and thoughtful approach in times of difficulty.
