The darker color on the new X1 makes it look bit more rugged, SUV-like. The lighter color makes it look like a tall wagon. |

Too bad BMW doesn't seem to offer Valencia Orange or any other adventurous colors anymore for the X1 series. Would be nice to see some more blues (not only very dark Mediterranean Blue or M Sport-only Estoril) and there's no red option at all. Seems like BMW prefers to offer white, black, silver (i.e., basically just light gray), dark gray, and other very neutral or too-dark colors, IMHO. There's nothing wrong with those colors per se, but it would be nice to see a few more colorful options. |

My xLine is in Platinum Silver (C08). So I am obviously extremely biased... But still, I honestly think M Sport in Platinum Silver will look spectacular. It's poor man's Champagne Quartz!!

And I thought that 9.5% sales tax for Washington state (USA) was much too high! Historical note, the American colonies broke away from England in large part because of taxation, we're not big on paying taxes here. |

That is truly unbelievable! I'm in shock.
I feel bad for you. I suppose it's a good way to keep the numbers of cars on the road down. Is there the same taxes on a second hand car? |

Here (Portugal) the car tax depends of the car characteristics, like CO2 emissions, particles emissions, engine CC, fuel type, car age, ... there is a formula for car tax calculation. Over that there is the VAT. For my particular X1 45% of the final value I will pay is tax. Not as bad as in Denmark but very high still. Nevertheless I accept it well. Cars can trully damage our planet and most of them are imported so this is a way to give some advantage to greener cars and other locomotion means. Also it is the people with more resources (money) who will pay more since they buy bigger and more powerful cars. In a way these cars (including the X1) are a small luxury. There are a lot of more eco-friendly ways to move yourself from point A to point B. |
