Whenever the sunroof is closing there's a strong vibration throughout the interior but only for few seconds. I took to the dealer and they say they need to remove the entire sunroof assembly and then lubricate. I don't want them to rip my new car. Is there any other fix? Or any other way to lubricate? Or is this normal?

My car had the same exact issue. Had it in the shop for over a week to fix. Now my car is riddled with shakes and rattles over any slight bump in the road. Really pisses me off that a 40k+ car has these kinds of issues.

Exactly why I don't want them to fiddle with my new car. Nothing can replace factory finish. Did they fix your sunroof problem though?

Yes the sunroof is fine now. But it sounds like I have cadges in my trunk rattling all the time.

What did they exactly do with the roof to fix the vibrations?

There were issues with the sunroofs on the Tiguan forum. I had to have one on my Tiguan Sel but never used it in 3 years of ownership. Didn't spec it on the X1.

They pulled the whole glass out, degreased it and replaced the rails. Took them some trial and error, so without the paperwork in front of me I can’t remember if that was the final fix. Took over a week though, luckily I was out in a brand new X5 loaner

Do they need to remove the headliner fabric for this?

Yes, they took down the headliner. And then again just this week the auxiliary battery for the SOS system failed, and yet again my headliner was taken down to replace that. More rattles for me! Really just ridiculous.

Could anyone here help me locate the drain holes on the sunroof?
