Auto stop/start.

Does anyone know if I can permanently disable this rather than having to keep doing it manually? Thanks.

In the US models, the last setting is retained when the vehicle is started. Is it not the case in the UK?

FYI...switching to Eco Pro mode will re-enable it.

If really try and get used to it. I thought we'd hate it but I've not been able to wrong foot it once and it not only saves fuel but it reduces noise and fuel pollution. It's a winner all round imho.

It's still not perfectly smooth but a pretty big difference from my 14 328i. That was annoying enough that I finally just shut it off.

In Australia you can have it changed by the dealer
Once done, it only switches on or off (only changes when the button is pushed).
So, by operating the button it stays permanently off until you push the button again.
This way it stays Off or On depending on which ever mode you selected.
There is a charge of course. ($320.00)

Did you request this after delivery (hence the charge)? Thanks.

That charge seems excessive for a simple computer update. Particularly if its the dealer you purchased from.

Its is pretty normal for BMW here.
I got it included in the deal.
If you want it done after you take delivery, this is the average cost.
High prices are charged here as it is a limited car market and no real competition between dealers.

We are talking about 30 minutes of labor, so that equates to $640 an hour!

We're talking about BMW dealers....in a market that doesn't have too much competition ?

YES BMW servicing, updates and mods are a rip off here

I was quoted A$590.00 just to update the Sat Nav (pro system) on my F20 125i M Sport recently (it just went out of warrantee), needless to say I bitched about that and they did it for A$200.00 during the service (still way too much).

I am not sure what the service charges are on the F48 X1 in the USA, but here, the interval is every 15,000KM (10,000ml) or 12 months. The first service is A$395.00, the following services range between A$700.00 and A$900.00 each.
I wrangled the 5 year /80,000km free servicing into my deal.

In the USA, all BMW standard services are included free* for the first 4 years or 50K miles.

After the first 4 years or 50k miles, the BMW service warranty can be extended at an extra charge for an extra 2 or 3 years, IIRC.

That was a factor in my deciding to go with an X1 versus, say, a Mazda CX-5 or Ford Escape. With the Mazda or Ford the upscale trim models' purchase price is roughly $7K USD lower than an X1 (the X1 starts at $34K USD) but you have to pay for service with Mazda and Ford. The X1 is still significantly more expensive, but BMW's free service helps narrow the gap.

* i.e., baked into the purchase price

So glad to hear that you can turn this feature off but I can see the benefits in brutal DVP rush hour traffic in Toronto
