Big Brake Kit?

Has anyone outfitted their F48 with a BBK? Or M Sport brakes from another BMW model? I am due for brakes soon and would much rather upgrade to some high performance brakes.

Can you elaborate more? What protectors? And what is needed for full swap?

Calipers, rotors, pads?

Sounds good. Link it here that way when someone searches for BBK they will see this thread and find yours as well.

Should be a straight forward swap. Only thing I can see being up in the air is brake line fittings to the chassis.

Any updates on this? Really enjoying my 2020 X1 but wish the brakes were a bit stronger... city driving doesn't help either.

If you are planning to take your X1 offroad or driving in salty snow often, it's probably better to stick with the original one as it has dust boots unlike the performance big brakes. Unless you are planning to disassemble the big brakes and cleaning the callipers often. That's the reason I decided not to do the swap.

Hi guys,

The EUR market (the one that we receive here in Mexico too) has the option to fit M-brakes in the X1 LCI. You can find the parts here: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=34_2781

Here you have an example configuration (in Spanish): https://configure.bmw.com.mx/es_MX/configid/b6m6j2d8

BMW states that the bigger brakes (360x30 rotor + M-calipers) should fit in 18" wheels (first screenshot), but I should go to 19" just to be sure (second screenshot).

I made a quick estimate time ago, and the cost was too high to make a conversion in my 2017 X1, similar to a WilWood set, which IMO are way better.

So I will fit a set of EBC Brakes (slotted rotors + yellow-stuff pads) and SS brake lines; maybe I will change the brake fluid too (Castrol Ultra or Motul). You can choose drilled rotors instead, but slotted are harder to crack and works great with yellow-stuff pads, which are designed to support higher temperature without fading. That should give me 30-40% better braking, according to reviews and tests.

You can see a full list of EBC kits here (I attached some pictures too): https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automoti...0)-2015/51013#

Other link to buy it in the US: https://www.carid.com/2016-bmw-x1-br...375552391.html

No real reason to have a BBK on a barely 200+ HP grocery getter.

I agree reluctantly, but aesthetically they look a lot better, looking at the cayenne and other higher end suv /sav cars with big calipers and larger rotors looks a lot better, but if I end up doing this, it won't be because of the better "performance".

Today I have fitted the M Sport brakes in my F48 LCI. It's a 25d and the improvement of braking feeling is even bigger than the more mighty the car appears now.
I have been thinking about this change for a long time, reading many opinions and forums like this one and I am very satisfied once I have done it.
The car has been in the garage for two hours, it really has been a plug & play. Here you are a picture of the car being washed once it has left the garage

Awesome! Looking good!

Those are 19" wheels, right? Do you think they will fit with OEM 18" wheels?

Can I ask how much did it cost?

Thanks,
