Short video of Sonax Polynetshield after 1 month on AW m3 - water dispersion
Hi all,
Hopefully this video is viewable. Wanted to share this as I was blown away. I applied Sonax Polynetshield to my m3 1 month prior to this video and have washed it about 3x since the application, driven it through rain, decent amount of time sitting out during the day, etc. I did nothing but wash my car and apply Polynetshield. No clay bar, no dawn dish soap wash, no other prep. http://s980.photobucket.com/user/joe...n3ae5.mp4.html Washing is a piece of cake since nothing is sticking to the surface. Also, driving in a light rain is pretty awesome as the beads of water are STREAKING across the hood to the windshield

It's in place of wax, it's a sealant and it's ridiculously easy to apply and remove. Leaves no real residue. As far as I know, safe on plastics and glass but I'm not trying to put it on there. I DID put it on shadowline trim as that's clearcoated I believe....

Thanks for the response. Did you apply directly or use a microfiber towel?

I use zAino and I get ridiculous amount of beading, then blow it off to dry the car, no need for towels to cause further scratches.
I didn't see much beads in the video |

I can take a picture of a beadfield for you if you'd like - beading is pretty similar among any product when freshly applied. This still beads like new now, 1 month in, but the big thing is the way the water flows off which is what I tried to capture. It DOES NOT stick on....not in beads, not in any form, if there is even a slight slope to the vehicle surface.
I blew my car off too for the first time. Pretty impressive. Love zaino too.

I used an applicator pad. This is a aerosol sealant, so I sprayed it on the pad, then applied to a small section at a time. Took me about 15-20 minutes working smoothly (not fast, not slow) to do the vehicle including removal.

No idea yet. Considering it's ease of use, I'm hoping one coat lasts 3-6 months including winter usage - but we shall see.
Supposedly PolyNetShield has the highest water beading capability of any sealant to date. But my main focus is on ease of cleaning and being able to "feel" it on the paint when I rub my knuckle along it.

I put it on my car after tip from Joe. I can vouch for that the water beading is impressive. Almost hypnotic to watch when driving in rain, some huge 3D beads can form moving like big jelly blobs on the hood. I have only had it on for a short while so I don't know how long it will last.

I am also a Zaino user, which I love not only for the beading and durability but also the shine.
Can anyone comment on the shine of Sonax vs Zaino on a dark(black) car? Can you layer it? |

I can't speak to layering of this product, however here's what I've been told by some:
Sealant, and wax for that matter, are formulated to bond to the surface of the paint and then cure. It's also formulated to then repel surface contaminants like water, dirt, etc. So, as a result, most don't layer effectively. They either repel the 2nd coat or with many they don't build higher - they just push each other around. Now, I've seen people layer products and it seems to create longer lasting results. So as a result, I have no idea what the truth is

Do you still have to dry the car after you wash it once this is applied?
