I know, I can sense the envy radiating from the internet. I lead a very glamorous life don't I?

I managed to find a place in North Carolina that had something from Sylvania that matched. The replacement bulb was $10. Shipping was $42 I ordered two bulbs because it didn't increase the shipping and it's always good to have a spare. Now what I didn't expect was what arrived today. There was no mention anywhere on the website that I was buying NOS bulbs. These bulbs must be at least 60 years old! I mean look at the address on the single box. Is that a two digit zip code for NYC? Was there ever two digit zip codes? Well yes... yes there was. 1943 was the first use by the USPS of two digit codes to help sort the roughly 20 million pieces of mail per year. The current format of the Zone Improvement Code (zip) didn't start until 1963. Do the math, these two bulbs could be as much as 78 years old! I hope they work.
Nice find! I also hope they work, lol.

When I saw the photos at first, I thought they were vacuum tubes used in old radios or nowadays high end audio gear. The reason I imagined that is because my dad is like a mad scientist in his workshop building all kinds of gear as a hobby, but also does a side gig restoring antique radios, electronics and external cabinetry and all. Those old looking boxes you showed look just like many of the tubes my dad has. Some of them are extremely valuable because they aren't made anymore. Well actually I had learned Russia of all places are making vacuum tubes for some high end audio companies. I think I remembered seeing them used in brands like McIntosh. Anyway, he's got piles and piles of tubes and boxes that look just like the Sylvania ones you have.

Sometimes you can get lucky and find people that have no clue what value tubes have and sell them off cheaply at swap meets or garage sales. My dad occasionally swoops in and finds gold mines. Lol. He now has customers all around the world requesting work to be done on their gear. Not a bad gig for an old man long retired and making a decent amount of bank which is essentially a hobby. He's not a salesman by any stretch and I keep telling him he needs to charge a lot more money than he currently does. He just brushes me off though and said he's okay with what he asks from people. It's no wonder he has a large clientele.

I've got a Ryobi with a Honda powerplant that works great for general stuff around the house. Picked up a surface attachment that does wonders for the driveway.

I picked up a Yamaha branded one from CostCo a couple of years ago. I dont use it a ton but it's worked okay for me. Gas powered but I kinda like it over the old electric Husky one that I had. I always have gas on-hand for lawn equipment and snow blower so it's not a big deal if I run out of gas.

I wish, I really enjoyed this single barrel rye! It would become my daily drinker pretty quick.

I have contemplated making a smaller bar out of it by cutting a door in the side, but I will likely leave it as is and use it as a table in the upcoming whiskey room.

I will be doing a build thread for it probably. I ran out of shelf space and got the green light to take some room and build full wall shelving units and then have some nice leather chairs and really just try to complete the feel of a whiskey room I have a better selection than 99% of the stores and bars around me so makes sense to make a good spot at the house.

That’s incredible. Any interest in cigars? Could make for a fantastic setting for a smoke.

2021 Cannondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra.

It's a freakin' unicorn.

I found three..... THREE coming in to the US for the entire rest of 2021. One was already spoken for and I got one of the other ones-- it should arrive around the end of April.

Covid has absolutely *destroyed* the bicycle industry's supply chain (I'm looking at *you*, Shimano.)

The only problem? The bike will be delivered to Chicago and I have to purchase it in person as they won't ship without me "laying hands" on it.

A problem to be solved later as I live in Denver.

Worst case? Jump on a plane, fly to Chicago, Uber to bike shop, pay them to disassemble, pack and ship, Uber back to airport, fly back to Denver.

Easy peasy.

R.

Going to order new Nox Composites wheels for it on Monday-- they have a two month build time due to lack of availability of Industry 9 road hubs, so the timing should work out well.

That's a cool score. Good luck with your delivery plans. I don't understand their reluctance to ship it out to you but I guess that's the world we live in now.

It's because as an authorized Cannondale dealer, they're not allowed to do online sales. It's actually very common in the bike industry-- Specialized is another example of such. Also, when I raised the question to the manager, he said that the bikes are so rare (any bikes, really- due to Covid) that they want to service they're local (and loyal) customers.

I'm just in the unique position of being able to jet to Chicago and have it cost no more than some time and a Uber to the bike shop, so I can comply with the "letter" of their dealership agreement, if not the spirit. There are occasionally a few perks to my job.

Depending on when it arrives, I might just ride my GS out there and back for something to do-- I've got three weeks of vacation over when its supposed to arrive, and my wife and I only have plans for a week of it.

Thanx for the explanation. I hadn't considered the exclusivity and the customer loyalty angle. Any chance you could catch a front seat from Denver to Chicago and actually get paid to pick up the bike? That would be sweet.

I would just make a few days road trip out of it. Drive there in one overnight. Pick it up. Drive it back and hit some nice paths/trails etc on the way home. That sounds way more fun than disassembling it and worrying about it in transit.
