Exclamation So I took a ride in a Friend's Twin Turbo V10 R8

And I can't even put into words what it feels like riding in, much less driving a 9 second car (on pump gas). I remember driving in and riding in a 10sec modified 68 Camargo years ago when I was in my mid 20s (30yrs ago).
Somehow, the experience in this Audi was NOT what I remembered nor realized the sensation would be so ferocious and unsettling. After the 3rd run, I became somewhat used to the sensation, barely.
Those of you who have experienced this type of quickness, do you share similar thoughts? I literally can't imagine these Tesla Plaids out here doing these numbers.
The All wheel drive is the only thing that made this car feel somewhat secure. But the G Forces without any helmet on... Wow!
FYI, this vehicle was tuned by Hefner Performance in FL. Over 1,000hp & 800+ ft/lbs.

Bigger cars are less unsettling than smaller ones
Especially with modern brakes, and a luxury interior
What's unsettling and downright dangerous is a stroked 2.4 4G64 with a big ass turbo running open dump pipe and no interior on Ethanol
That's an experience I don't want to ever have a gain
875ish AWHP ~2455lbs wet

As I've gotten older, I've developed the opinion that there is such a thing as too fast. This is too fast.

450-500whp is my comfortable limit. Haven't gotten bored of it yet, and it's manageable. Took a ride in my friend's Rivian and one pull is all it took to solidify my position.

Nice R8 though

Nice. My brothers GTR is 1300. You can't describe to people what that's like. It changes your entire outlook on what's fast. He gets pissed at me for using the rolling launch all the time:-) It's addictive!! I haven't gotten a chance to beat up on a Plaid. I'm keeping my eye out for one though. Just want to see the look on their face when they catch back up. It's fun smoking liter bikes also. Those guys always think no car can beat them. Wrong bitch😵

I have 385 hp on 3300 lbs and find it near impossible to wind it out so literally no idea where you use 800+

i equate these to riding a fast rollercoaster. fun the first few times. then you get used to it.

after i went fbo e85 in my gtr i found myself turning the boost down to enjoy the car in the backroads. less lag and more time on the throttle rather than the brakes.

I think a lot of people would just buy the Lambo instead, but the R8 is beautiful on its own and sounds just as incredible. It should with the same engine. It’s definitely a compelling car.

I had a 2018 Camaro ZL1 that was tuned to just under 900HP. To say it was violent is an understatement. I had a couple of rear bad scares in that car while pushing the limits. While on it on time, hit a small dip in the road and threw the back end sideways about 14 inches in a fraction of a second. 14 inches, because we were able to go back and see the tire skip marks on the pavement. To some, that may not seem like a big distance but when 900 HP is bearing down in a linear motion, when that rear tire grabbed again, the sideways G-Force snapped my head in a sideways whiplash. Had 5 points on, but no helmet.
That being said, The R8 is an amazing machine and would LOVE to ride in a one with that much HP. Ive been in a few stock and to say they are impressive is an understatement!

I actually posed this question to him. He certainly could have. After driving them both, he felt that the overall creature comfort, performance to price did not justify the Huracan. I probably would've gone Lambo personally. But this car is actually a tad longer, wider and taller which helps with head room. Dude is 6'3. I'm 6,0 and it is kinda cramped. The Lambo even more so.
This car has full leather and carbon fiber interior with B&O stereo which makes the performance with the TT that more shocking. Suspension is quite docile which he also wanted. It can and he does drive it regularly with zero issues just regular maintenance.

I am completely with you. After experiencing this... Either I'm an old F*** or this type of power is simply not for me.
Again, the only saving grace is the all wheel traction. Then again, you still have to maintain an iron grip at all times during acceleration!
What also is very impressive is that the transmission and suspension are stock.
He says both are among the best factory setups of any supercar. He also explained the difference of Torque ratios in cars this size vs larger, heavier cars.
Guy knows his shit. Which I respect for having the balls to modify this car to such an extent.
He told me ahead of time that "whatever your expectations are, won't match the sensation". He was spot on.

Fuck that!! In my opinion, once you get over say 800 ish it's AWD or nothing. I see no reason anymore to have a big HP RWD. It's totally useless on the streets.

Not sure 800hp+ is usable on the streets in any configuration.

Why would you ruin a glorious NA V10 by adding blowers to it?

I can relate. Earlier this year I rode on a couple of runs in a sub-3 second 1000hp EV. It felt like an amusement ride, not entirely in a good way. It would feel better if I was driving but that wasn’t the case.

I think “too fast” is a legitimate discussion, in the context of public roads. To drive in anything approaching a safe manner in these cars, performance driving training is needed. Particularly as it relates to braking. There are no regulations to my knowledge that require specialized training when licensing or purchasing these types of cars.

If your brother's car is running high 8s then yes, you *should* be able to stomp a Plaid. If not, then no, especially if the SOC is near full. Plaids are a consistent 9.2 cars. So if you're out of boost or have no traction or basically anything other than optimal conditions, especially on the street, a Plaid will pull. Pretty insane if you think about it.

Yes. He is high 8's. Only had it at the track a few times. 99% of the time, it's roll racing. I think I will walk a plaid from a 40-60 roll. Someday we will see. Can't wait. I saw a vid where I think a GTR with around the same power was beating one pretty consistently. Unfortunately, you can't trust anything you see. I want to actually do it
