Never much liked the PE offered from BMW, and the AKRA is insanely priced. Waiting for Dinan, should be around $2500 at most based on the e92 offering. Had a Dinan on my old e92 n54 and it crushed the OEM and the BMW PE. It had great low end tone/rumble and screamed up top at hi revs, with no cabin drone, and offering a matching 4yr/50k warranty. Again I'll say 7 or 8 grand is crazy for just plain exhaust to sound better. My humble, your views may vary, and that's cool too.

Uhhhh yeah, right. I'm pretty sure BMW spent many hours perfecting the sound of the E92 so it would sound like a lawnmower. What are you on?

You couldn't even hear the thing? You obviously didn't own one bro! Sure it sounded great when you put an aftermarket exhaust on it, but out of the box it sounds nowhere near as good as the F8X.

well, you know, the E92 M3 is just not appealing to me anyway, even with your suggested aftermarket tuner exhaust. It doesn't even have full leather as an option.

I agree, having come from from stock then Akra Evo E90 M3, the stock note was very muted. Driving the F80 in sport mode I'm not sure I need the additional noise, it's really good stock. I write this fully knowing some roast me for it. The car sounds great STOCK, there, said it.

I love the sound from the new F8X

I don't think the youtube vids to them justice at all. Go in a tunnel in sport+ and do a pull, sounds nuts

Most reviews seem to like the sound of the stock exhaust on the new Ms but many also have pointed out it's not a V8 tone from the past. Personally, coming from an i6t, the OEM m3/4 stock exhaust sounds pretty great to me as is.

2. I've heard the Akra IRL since I live down the street from TAG and HRE. It sounded amazing, but too pricey for me.

3. I know of many companies who have aftermarket solutions in the works. I wouldnt let the sound worry you whatsoever.
Yea it was on sport+ and everything was set to sport+ and I drove it for about 20 minutes. I ran it all the way to red line. I mean it was disappointing. But it's a 6 cylinder with turbos so what can you expect? The only 6 I ever heard that I liked was from Porsche. They should have stuck with the v8 or tuned the exhaust better.

In regards to there being only 2 - that was in reference to the Akrapovic EVO for the new F80/F82.

Yes I am referring to the amount of M4's in the US not akrapovic exhaust. As far as the exhaust I found a pretty good video that does a good job representing the true sound. They used a proper mic for once.

Yes I have since I drove it. I'll tell you this, motortrend did a drive by video and it doesn't sound so terrible. But when I heard it in person, it sounded nothing like the video. It was horrible but to each his own. I'm spoiled by v8 sounds, porsche sounds, etc....

Yea again I've read quite a few that don't like it. Motortrend made some comments about the sound in their written article but failed to mention it in their video.

The car is great. Just the sound sucks. But, it is all relative. Again as I said before, I have been spoiled by what I am around. And any car that didn't match it, I found an aftermarket exhaust to either get a v8 roar or that exotic sound of a 6 like what porsche has.

And really BMW doesn't do it OEM. That akra does though, and it should for the price. I bet eisman will be great too. Here is an example of what it should have sounded like from the factory. Eisman will probably come through and be the most affordable.

I believe the 335 also used a 6 cylinder turbo correct? I'm not sure for back then, I didn't follow BMW. But why couldn't BMW do this and someone like eisman could? I'd say either they were dumb or lazy. Maybe even greedy. As they always offer a PE for way more money instead of just including it stock. These reasons are probably wrong hopefully, but eisman just did a good job with the 335 in the video.

BMW cheap, yup! How else can they sell the PE with great success? Ended up with a Dinan FFE after about 2k miles. Hated the OEM and the PE even more so.

As to the F80, I'll wait till I hear mine in person then make the call to an aftermarket if I can't stand the OEM.

Agreed, it don't sound anything like the V8 of old. Pity, as they probably could have for just pennies more, but maybe I expect too much from a 70k+ auto.

They sell the PE with great success because they put a crap exhaust to begin with, so no one has a choice but to buy the PE.

I figured that was pretty obvious unless you were joking when you asked?

First time I have ever heard a Dinan product being labeled as the economy brand.

Does an aftermarket exhaust on the M3/4 sound funny from the inside mixing with the "stock" active sound? Not trolling. Genuinely curious what this is like in real life.

I'm sure nearly all people getting an aftermarket exhaust would code out the active sound at the same time so they could hear their new toy properly.

That price does not include exhaust tips.

Titanium exhaust tips - $990.00
Carbon fiber exhaust tips - $1300.00

Please let us know if you have any further questions.
