Just realized Bimmertech has finally announced a new and only known to me plug and play amp! It is on presale and will be available after June. However, selling it for $1700 is a crime and a hard pass for me.

I think so. The match amp requires a $200 harness for the total price of $1600..

I have recently installed Match UP 8SDP in my G31. It was done profesionally including speaker install and including fine tuning of DSP with the help of computer, measuring mic, pink noise, etc. The result is very good, the install went well considering additional cabelling that had to be made as my car had only a base stereo with no tweeters and no amp.
Now I have a new issue - as the new speakers are higher efficiency (90 dB), the sound of front and back parking sensors is unpleasantly loud. Any suggestions how to put their volume down? Is this somenthing I can code using BimmerCodes?

Oh yay time for me to go spend more money. I already have the speakers installed lol and I want a new amp. Just didn't plan to pay 2k right now.

I have a trunk sub installed and was waiting for a new amp, but I’m halfway through my lease already and $1700+ tax seems like way too much.

I own my car outright and plan to keep it a long time so for me its a no brainer. Personally, id never put in an amp and new speakers on a lease unless I plan on keeping it.

I have installed a Match UP 8 DSP in my car, the price around USD 1000 and there is still one channel free for additional subwoofer. Are you planning on installing pure active front tweeters? I am using passive front tweeters (i.e. powered thru crossover) which allowed me to use either 7 or 8 channels, hence a cheaper amp...

You can do the install with a Technic harness and a PP8 DSP or PP10 DSP. It is an easy upgrade, but you need to be able to splice some cables correctly.

I guess the pre- tuning means setting up the DSP to reflect things like different distance of all speakers to drivers head (channel delay), crossovers, etc. This actually defines what you will hear from your system

Even though it's pricey, I'm going to be the guinea pig. I'm at the point in my life that the expense doesn't bother me as much as it probably should. I do agree with DealBMW that the price is ridic, but if I remember correctly, the Bowers & Wilkins was a $3700 option when it was offered for the 5 series (you can set me straight on the price).

Before I get balls deep into this, I'm just doing the amp for starters. I have the HK system in my 2022 and we'll see where I land. It's supposed to come with 10 presets if I understand correctly...I'll be screwing around with that.

The problem for me is my previous experience with the bimmertech system was mediocre. It was a complete upgrade on my f36, including the amp, speakers, and underseat subwoofers. While it made some improvements over the stock (non-HK) system, I had to add a trunk sub to improve the overall sound stage, but it was still far from “Wow.”
Then my f16 X6 had an HK system, and of course, it wasn’t enough, so I added two shallow mounts JL subs in the trunk.
I remember back then, my wife had her Hyundai Veloster with Infinity speakers, and it sounded the same, if not better, than the X6.
Now my 540i has the new HK system, which, in my opinion, was downgraded using their “booster” instead of the traditional amp. Obviously, the first thing I added was the trunk sub. I don’t believe in upgrading under-seat subs anymore.. Funny enough, my wife has a new Jeep with their mid-level sound system from Alpine. Which system, do you think, sounded better? 🥲
With all that said, I don’t think the Bimmertech/Match system, even if you do a full-on upgrade, compares to B&W.

I basically stated the same thing in another thread...but I thought I would follow up here as well.

Well, I have the HK system in my G30 and I just installed the Alpha One amp. All I can say is wow. What a huge difference. I kept the stock speakers just to compare. I want to see what each component change yields.

They want you to turn off logic 7 and zero all settings. I did that and it was an improvement, but not as much as I hoped. I then turned logic 7 on and a huge difference. Turned up treble and just a hair of bass. Good, but I thought it still should be better.

Then I remembered about being able to install the Bowers and Wilkins DSP via Bimmer Code. Another friend on here agreed that I should install it. Holy shit what a difference! Every tune I play sounds fantastic...even if I use XM radio. I installed the B&W DSP with the factory HK amp and it sucked so bad I uninstalled it. It's a whole new world with this amp. Everything hits hard all throughout the volume range. Great bass even on the low end. With the stock HK system, shit didn't start going till turning the volume past 60% and then it fell flat.

Now I'm going to install the BimmerTech floor subs. The HK are 7 ohm and the Alpha One's for this new amp are 2 ohms. I think that will complete the package for me....but I'm curious to see what the complete Alpha package sounds like. The amp is powerful and I may want to take full advantage.

I've been tempted by the Alpha One amp but I have the Bavsound speakers, including their same-as-stock 7 ohm floor subs. Is the Alpha One expecting the 2-ohm floor subs or the 7-ohm subs?

Also, do you have a photo of what the Alpha One amp looks like installed? Does it install on top of the factory amp? I have another amp for my 10" trunk sub installed nearby and I'm concerned about interference.
