DIY Oil Pan Gasket?

Hi, Stealer says my oil pan gasket is bad. I’ve had to add oil twice in 3 months. Anyone have a break down of the scope of changing the gasket and resealing? The stealership was $3,333 lol. I can do a gasket, but dropping the engine mount might not be great.

I changed my oil pan about a year ago and I don't recall a gasket. I remember the tech instructions requiring grey RTV on the sealing surface and a specific tightening sequence to accommodate it.

It was somewhat extensive, and (again, if I'm remembering correctly) the tech manual suggests to drill out rivets securing the subframe in order to remove the intercooler tube (I just squeezed it out). Also the dog bone shaped engine mount link and some wiring has to be moved out of the way. There are a seemingly excessive number of bolts holding on the pan, so tightening and torquing takes some time.

These things are quoted by the computer now, which is strictly by the book, of course, so the price doesn't surprise me.

I bet you can get it for half the cost at an independent (if he's done it before and can quote you on the actual labor he will do, not using the exact same computer program to quote you).
