BMW Letter re. DME Control Unit Not Activated
Curious if anyone else received a mysterious non-recall (I think) related letter from BMW about the DME control unit not getting activated?
Pertinent part states, "During a recent quality analysis, it was determined that the fault memory lock in the Digital Motor Electronics (DME) control unit was not activated. This lock should prevent the manual deletion of fault memory entries recorded using appropriate diagnosis systems." The repair being, "...the fault memory lock should be activated using a service function." The issue seems innocuous enough and a simple fix. Has anyone taken their X1 in for this repair? Any information on what happens when it's not done or the potential problems of an inactivated DME control unit? Thanks folks. |
