2018 X1 Battery Replacement
Just spent an hour replacing the battery after original battery died and won’t charge.
Decided to go with Advance auto part platinum battery as this battery seems to have the best all around performance at a reasonable price. Upon removing the battery alarm started going off until new battery was put in. Took me a while to put original shield back in its original position. Other than that everything went smoothly. Car now starts right up, but battery discharge sign message is still on. Looks like car will need to be driven for a while to eliminate the error message. For those who are debating whether to do the job yourself, it is really not that difficult if you take time and have all the right tools. |

Ditto. If you didn't register the new battery...that's probably why you're still getting check control messages. The IBS (intelligent battery sensor) doesn't know that you replaced the battery...and is probably freaking out if it detects a big jump in battery voltage.
Not sure why your alarm siren went off while replacing the battery. Did you have the doors locked (which means the anti-theft alarm siren system was active), or the START button turned on?

it’s highly recommended to register the new battery so you can get the most out of it and have it last as long as it normally should. without registering, you run risk of the battery dying prematurely.
