225/40R20 vs 245/40R20

sorry if this had been asked here before, please link me to the thread if it has.

But I'm just wondering if anyone here have tried to fit their X2 with some 245/40R20 tires. Reason I'm asking is I am due to replace my summer set and there is a $2k difference in price between the 225 and 245. I can get the 245 from our supplier for a lot cheaper than the 225 but I don't know if it's going to clear the car.

Nobody is running 245s? I always thought the 225s look skinny on the x2. I'm not quite ready for tires yet, but I'll be looking at 245's when the time comes.

I've talked to a couple of tire shops and the dealership and both said it was not advisable but I think this is due to the fact that no one they know have done it yet as they don't know if it will clear the inside of wheel well when cornering so I'm asking if anyone has tried running 245's here

Sure it'll fit.. I ran 255's for winter. However, they were on other rims.. it's really 15mm deeper on the inside so I would say it should still fit.. worse case scenario is get some spacers which.. I also run on the stock wheels so they'll fill out a bit more.

I think the size that would be a closer rolling radius is 255/35/20.

245/40R20 will be a taller rolling diameter. You’d need 245/35R20 to keep the same rolling diameter (if not it may mess with the calibration and all that).

Also there is another thread with a member running 245s, he uploaded some pics. https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2031964
