Question Should we (DCT) switch to neutral on longer stops?

Do you know if the clutch disengages while waiting in a traffic light, with transmission in S/D and with the foot in the brake pedal?

I've read that "modern" transmissions would disengage automatically in these conditions but I have doubts the M2 os doing it... Should we switch to neutral while waiting on longer traffic stops? Will this procedure avoid premature clutch wear?

Any help or enlightening on this subject?

Regards

Note: I always have start/stop disable so the engine will always be running.

It is already in neutral when you stop for a while. It does not show in N but it is. This is why you can feel a thump when accelerating from a standstill. It's the clutch re-engaging.

Feeling is very similar to a centrifugal clutch on a go kart.

I think the think to avoid is just barely creeping forward in traffic and trying to hold the car in place on an incline by riding the gas pedal.

Note that "barely inch forward" is also different from, "remove foot from brake and tap gas pedal to engage 'creep mode'."

Creep mode is fine and the car's designed for that. Trying to emulate creep mode yourself by feeding in a little bit of gas and then just holding it with very little throttle, that is the bad thing.
