White or black X1
Hey guys I’m getting my girl a 2017 X1 x28i this weekend and the dealer that we’re looking at have (white on mocha) and (black on black) in stock. Both X1’s are fully loaded and pretty much have the same options. Xline, LED light package, machined face 5 Y-spoke wheels.
I need some opinions. My question is that what color suits the X1 exterior design better, black or white? Last edited by Karter_Brazy; 11-26-2019 at 03:32 PM.. |

Perspective. Whats your interior?
I wear a black suit to work 4 out of 5 days. I want to be seen existing a black car (its not completely blacked out).

Get the one your girlfriend will like most.
My vote is white though. I hate seeing scratches on cars and I wouldn't want to deal with cleaning a black one. |

It will be garage kept at home and at her work as well. But knowing my girl, most likely she would get her car washed once a month. |

Get what your girl likes best. Favorite color is very subjective and mostly based on personal taste.
But, to raise an objective issue, maintaining a clean car that's black takes more effort than a white one, which will hide dirt a bit better. With black paint, any dirty rain spotting, mud, streaks from washer fluid, etc will be very noticeable. Also, rock chips, swirl marks and other paint contamination will likely be less obvious on white paint. |

I love my white on mocha. Everyone that gets in the car comments on the contrast. My sister has the black on black and the interior gets lost.

This just shows it is a matter of taste tho, so this question cannot be answered objectively |

Apparently Grey is the new Black/White. Some of the old classic cars were Grey so nothing new.

Our last X1 (e84) was Black ans looked dirty as soon as it was used after a good cleaning whereas the X1 (f48) is Metallic Mineral White and does not show the dirt anywhere near as much. I think the Black was nicer ---but only for the short period before it was driven.

I know it’s a tough choice. I’ll be driving it too here and there so I’m planning to fix it up a little bit. For sure I’d do all chrome delete to gloss black window trim and kidney grille, 20” square set up gloss black wheels and tint the front windows.
Either I go for a blacked out look on a black X1 or panda style on a white one. |

Metallic black looks way better and sharper, particularly for a BMW. I am not a fan of solid black though. You just can't find anything looking remotely stunning than a polished black car in rich metallic shine. White paint as a no cost option has a price advantage though.

Mine is Mediterranean Blue, but it's just the same as Black. Looks good when it's cleaned, but only takes one short drive in typical UK winter weather and it then looks pretty awful. Only saviour is that it has a Nevada Beige leather interior, which looks great against the dark exterior and is surprisingly easy to keep clean - I use Turtle Wax Leather Care. Last car was a white Audi Q3 1.4TFSI Sport with DSG box and even in current type weather conditions it looked OK after several days driving along the lanes where I live. Near neighbour has a white X1 and I reckon his solid paint finish is superior to the metallic colours, which appear extremely thinly applied.

Ok we have the X1 for two days now and I’m thinking about taking the car to my local INDY for an oil change and have him inspect the whole car as well and see if there’s anything wrong with it since it’s still under BMW manufacturers warranty. And then take it to my local BMW dealer if my INDY finds anything wrong with the car that still cover under manufacturers warranty.
Do y’all think that’s a good idea or should I just take it straight to the dealer have them perform an oil change and have it inspected?? Btw, I still have 4 months left on the warranty. Last edited by Karter_Brazy; 12-07-2019 at 11:20 PM.. |
