Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto Interface BOX

Hi everyone!

Searching for some info regarding how to get Android Auto on my car, I've found this very interesting box:

Wireless CarPlay Android Auto Interface BOX for BMW X1 F48 NBT system (https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/qiathd44)

It will be connected on to the original headunit of the car and it will offer wireless Carplay, Android Auto and mirror phone.

Of course, my 2016 F48 / 06/2016 is build with HU_ENTURYNAV headunit.
I contacted the seller asking if the product declared "for NBT" work with my HU_ENTURYNAV. He confirmed that the box will work without problems.

Does anybody installed such a interface box? Is it working?
Is it worth?
I'm tempted to buy it.
Any help and/or advice will be appreciated.

Thank you

For a couple of hundred euros more you get a bigger 10,25 inch touch screen and a full android tablet.

Why bother ?

I'd like to keep the iDrive as much as original.
Also, I don't think that the android tablet screen is as bright and visible as the stock screen. I've seen many tablet screens that are almost not visible in direct sunlight.

But I'm still open to suggestions for such a tablet.
My first request is to have a good visibility in direct sunlight.

Watching with interest.

Having a passthrough box seems the easiest way to get Android & Carplay.

Thank you, I've found also such presentations on YouTube and, yes, this is what I'm looking for.

I already placed the order yesterday. It should be delivered in about 2 weeks.

I'm back again with a question: this type of unit can work also with HU_ENTRYNAV (2016) ?
I'm asking because the chinese company is telling me note that the unit will not work (after telling me that it will work without problems).

There are different versions for CIC , NBT and EVO what's the last 7 of your ViN?

The vehicle in the video had the EntryNavNBT so I used the NBT version

I also posted a message asking if thats compatible with my car. After a difficult conversation, due to their English level and the fact I don't speak Chinese, I think that will not fit my car. Apparently it fits only NBT (old) systems.

What I know is that my unit is EntryNav.

Also, I my car is equipped with head-up display and I don't know if it will function after connecting the device.

You have the EntryNavNBT unit so you will need the NBT version. I am unsure about the HUD as haven't fitted it to a car with this as of yet.

Thank you.
I hope the HUD will work after connecting the device; it's really useful and I'm using it a lot.

MMI Carplay X1 F48 2016

I have just installed MMI Carplay (got it from China to Brazil by Aliexpress for 170 dollars) in my X1 F48 2016. It was quite hard work but I’m delighted with the result. The only big problem I faced was the fact that my Head Unit did not pull out no matter what I did. Going through a lot of topics on this issue, I found that I should have had removed Central Console first. That sounded too much work! So instead I managed to reach all the cables behind the head unit without pulling it out by squeezing my hands through the glove box compartment (much easier work, only needed to release five screws and it is done!). I have placed the MMI box under the head unit (there is enough space to accommodate it). Every original BMW equipment seems to be working fine. Now I’ve got Waze and everything else that Apple Carplay offers in my BMW, even Siri is working flawlessly. Here some pics of the whole process.
