I love the idea of it, but it looks like it makes the front of the armrest higher than I normally have mine (perfectly flat). True, or just a trick of the camera?

For me it's just moments away from actually hitting the "stop" that was built in for perfectly flat. I didn't notice a difference. Your picture looks pretty shiny, mine looks a little more "flat" in color. I also got one with a red stripe in the corner. It was really because my original got delivered to the wrong address, and the person wouldn't give it back so I waited a couple of months for nothing. Then magically one day I got a reminder and someone had it in stock local for prime delivery so I just got the one with the red highlight strip..

Also, FWIW, there is about 1.5" of space under where the unit slips in. Good enough to hide my OBDII scanner, a few cables, and my Dragy - all when not in use!

So I drove errands yesterday. Became truly annoyed at the angle.

So I went back to my other tray with custom installed wireless pad.

And took apart the console I recommended which now I don't, 😢.

Did 600 miles yesterday and 600 miles today. I actually liked the tray. I was able to conceal a gun and mags under it. Now to figure out how to lock it. Lol

What states are you two in? Just curious on security and concealment laws. I would think of a vertical slim safe wedged between seat and console would work better and faster.

I'm in Ohio. I have a safe in the trunk for my in case I forgot to bring a gun with me somewhere. I was just trying to hide some mags (the box on the lower left console is full of stuff (this is where i usually store mags). I usually carry my gun with me everywhere.

Are you not looking as to where we are , underneath our name? I have a concealed carry license (CWFL) in Florida. I can put the weapon anywhere I want.

I use the little box in the dash for my keltec 32. I also have a small safe in the trunk but usually I just take everything out for service.

Here's a few pics from my X1 with dimensions for this insert. The color match was nearly perfect for my mocha leather interior *'scuse the image size*:
