Say wha? LOL. Yeah I have an N54 and it's fantastic and my car *came from the factory* like that —-but I didn't stuff it inside an E30 M3 and ruin it.

To call the S14 "slow and quaint" shows you don't understand anything about the E30 M3 or that engine. The S14 was a very special engine...derived straight out of racing and with one of the best 4-cylinder sounds you'll ever hear. There's a time to appreciate pedigree...and period correctness.

I'm somewhat against this, not because the engine is bad (it is not), but is the chassis also properly upgraded for this engine, is this the car front heavy, etc.? If I was to do this I would try to find a lightweight high rev small N/A engine instead

Since I have owned a 1990 M3, I would much rather have the S14 and modify that engine. The sound was incredible with that car (in stock form).

Cool car. Always nice to see folks trying new combos. I still think the S54 is the best swap for the E30 though.
