Need alert to new text msg

I have looked in the owners manual, all the menus available in the idisplay, and Bimmercode and can’t seem to find this. On other makes that I’ve had , the system would alert me to a new incoming text message, I can’t seem to do that on the ‘21 X2, any ideas? I am using an iPhone SE.

Couldn't get it to work with my Android phone.. my wife's x1 used to do it, but I think it was because it came with the business plus? addition to the software. Now that all subscriptions are over though I don't believe it does it anymore.

That’s kind of what I thought, I assume it’s another safety feature that says “we don’t want to disturb your driving, etc”… that’s all the rage today with manufacturers.....

It used to work for me, until it didn't when I had Android. After 10 years of Android, I got an iPhone - and that, surprisingly, solved the texting among various other problems. It just works. iOS 14 made the iPhone usable enough like my Androids. And going to the iPhone with CarPlay over Android Auto - in this bimmer, holy cow - I just love it!

Well, it's not the Android phone's fault, it's the piss-poor integration that BMW decided was enough. It is the only thing about the car's engineering that really ticks me off about the car, that they'd choose to pay the Apple tax and leave Android out.

Don't get too upset, the Apple CarPlay integration is absolutely horrible too.

CarPlay wireless works fine with me, 80% of the time.
