Recall on my April 2019 X2 already

Booked myJan 2019 build X2 S2.0i to get its oil change done and the dealer showed me that there was a 'delivery stop' compulsory recall relating to the DME.

That's all the info he had.

Anyone else had this recall?

Guess that means it will erase my coding that I did through Bimmercode?

Mine's a 2.0 petrol fwd.

cheers

Hey satz,

I booked my 6th month general check up this week, but I don't hear anything in regards of the recall.
And even the call center person I spoke to didn't say anything about that.
Will let you know once I have done the check up.

Wasn't able to get any more detail on the recall... They appear to have done a software update which has resulted in the speed limit showing on the instrument panel (even though I have a HUD).

I can't seem to switch it off so it doesn't show on the instrument panel. Does anyone know how to do that please?

I also have to re-code all my personalised settings like seat positions, seat position memory, heating memory, etc... Oh well I get to play with the car a bit more

Hey Satz,

Sorry for the late reply.
Did the service 2 weeks ago and did not hear anything regarding the recall.
I completely forgot to ask about that since I was having a blast with the loan car (X3 M40i).
Hopefully yours have been resolved.

interestingly when I read through the service paperwork, they seem to have done some recall work on the rear brake lights. No detail provided though.

You know what, on my 2nd month of ownership, my rear tail light was playing up as well.
I kept getting error code because of both left and right brake light
Then I took a look, tighten the connector, and its all working fine.
Recently, I just changed my turn light + brake light to LED. No issue so far..

I wonder if that's the problem they were doing the recall for?
When was yours built stripedz? Mine is a Jan 2019 build.

How hard was it to change the bulbs to LEDs? Did you have to change any electronics, or just swap bulbs?

cheers

It is possible, but I didnt get any recall notification from anyone so far.
Mine is Dec 2017 build, but registered on Jan 2018.

Its pretty simple, literally just opening the access to the bulb and swap it (i think its PY21 or BAU15 bulb) and code few settings via bimmercode.
The end result is quite pleasing..

Hi Any further news on recall. I have ordered new face lifted X1 which was delivered to dealer 3 weeks ago but I cannot collect because of a STOP on it. Dealer says it applies also to X2. Getting info is proving difficult but they say it is problem with instrument panel...but cannot be specific or give me any idea of timescale for fix. Soooo frustrating. Any news you have would be much appreciated

There weren't any additional recalls on the X2 after the tail light issue last year, your dealer is misinformed if he's saying there's one that applies to x2s at this time.

There is an x1 recall in play, you can find the info over in the x1 sub-forum.

The dealer is definitely saying there is also a Stop on the X2 for the same issue with instrument panel. Could this be DME problem referred to in earlier post. Reference X1 stop on X1 forum...that was me!

There isn't an instrument panel recall, the outstanding x1 recall is related to the B-pillars and rear passenger safety, so I have no idea how the x2 can have the same non-existent recall for the instrument panel.

Dealers can and have been wrong a lot in this information.

My X2 definitely had a stop delivery on it this year. Build date Jan 2019.
But right-hand drive (Australian delivered), so it might be different to US. All the dealer said was it was to do with rear brake lights..

Correct, the prior recall for both x1 and x2's was related to rear tail lights, but there's not been a shared recall other than that one.

I can assure you that in one regard they are definitely correct that there is a stop on X1....I have my car waiting with my dealer to proove it ..we saw it couple weeks ago. So he my also be correct regarding X2..we will wait and see. Of course it may be different for the US.

Yes, there's a known stop on the x1 for the B-pillar issue, this did not affect the x2 at all, and if there were a new x2 stop then trust me this forum would be talking about it.

Dealers being misinformed (or lying) is a far more common scenario than this forum not knowing about something

According to BMW Australia website, when I enter my VIN, the following recall was completed on my car:

0012080500 "Fx Gx Steuergeräte programmieren (DME)"

Just received info from my dealer to say that problem is with the instrument panel trim which will have to be replaced. They said it has stopped 13,000 cars worldwide! Why something like that should necessitate a stop surprises me. So hopefully I finally might get my X1 next week? How many are X1 and are X2 i do not know.

There's something wrong with what the dealer is telling you since this is not any of the known factory issues and you're the only one reporting it, what others have reported are all known items from the past.

So I got a recall for B122019 Recall: Program Control Units (DME) - 0012080500 -
as a side note when I checked the BMW website after I got the letter my car doesn't show any recalls,. Probably will wipe out all my coding. I did export my driver profiles so I can at least get the seat back where I like it

I'm in Sydney with 4000k on the clock (M35i Build: 03/19).
Had this recall recently:
0065160300-Replacing the seat-occupancy mat

They wiped all my settings as I didn't realise you could back them up to usb! I also now have the speedo at the bottom of the dash. You can change it (Click the left stalk end button) to average L/Km or whatever but I like the speed there tbh even though I too have HUD.

I also got an X3 M40i as a loan car. It was way too big. I much prefer the X2 in terms of handling/zippyness and its actually not that much more practical.
