A regular "A" model at say $70k+ would have been nice.
It really is strange. Perhaps that is to come as this is not the car that is targeting their clients that would want ev, or maybe the platform is just so expensive that its not economic, but i cant see how anyone except a die hard audi fan would pick this over the Taycan, doesnt make sense really...its a nice car looking car and certainly nicer than the i4, but cant see who this is targeting...

I love this, especially in that dark gray! I think it looks better than the Taycan. The interior, for me, is nicer as well (so happy they are moving away from the dual screens). I may have to trade the RS5...still have to decide if I can really fathom moving to an EV though. What do people on EV forums even chat about?? Lol

Is it just me, or does anyone think the armrest looks like an afterthought. It seem really far back, like so much that you couldn't rest your elbow on it and still have your hand at 4 o'clock on the wheel. Its a minor complaint, but one that I would find super annoying. They probably prioritized those cupholders for the American market.

It is nice to see more options in the EV market. Just from a glance the battery capacity is similar to the Taycans.

I didn't watch the premier but I'm guessing there are no autonomous driving aids? Or are there?

I think its just got the normal Audi driving assist stuff like every other model they offer. The presentation was long and very boring so I spaced out during a lot of it
Audi/VAG kind of seems behind on the self-driving tech for a company that is usually so advanced in their use of technology.

Edit, found this in a different press release.

The Audi pre sense front and Audi pre sense basic safety systems are standard, as are the lane departure warning system and cruise control system. The optional systems are subdivided into the “Tour,” “City” and “Park” packages. The assist package plus integrates all three of them. The night vision assist and surround view cameras (also available in the “Park” package) are available in addition. All systems use the central driver assistance controller (zFAS), which uses the sensors’ data to continuously compute an exact model of the vehicle’s environment.

The adaptive cruise assist, which assists the driver with longitudinal and lateral guidance in many situations, is the most important system in the “Tour” package. When the predictive efficiency assist (standard) is active, the adaptive cruise assist decelerates and accelerates the gran turismo in such a way that it consumes as little energy as possible.

The (remote) park assist plus is one of the highlights of the “Park” package. It maneuvers the Audi e-tron GT into and out of a parallel or bay parking space at the push of a button. The driver is responsible for the maneuver. They can remain inside the car or get out – in this case, they start and supervise the parking maneuver via the myAudi app on their smartphone. By keeping the corresponding button pressed, the car will roll into the space, in multiple maneuvers if necessary. Once it has reached its final position, it switches off the drive, activates the parking lock, and locks the doors.

Sounds a lot like AP on a Tesla. Elon really nailed the hype when he named it AP. It's really not self driving but a lane holding cruise control haha. But the hype worked.

I'm very surprised it doesn't have that god awful dual screen audi mmi setup. Makes me wonder if they are going away from that already.

I hope they do, the HVAC touchscreens in the Taycan and Audi products sucks to use while driving. Nothing can replace how easy it is to use physical knobs and buttons for some functions.

Agreed plus no fingerprints. This setup looks so much better too

Beautiful car inside and out. I love all the copious wood trim inside. This will sell on looks alone, and I predict it could take a bite out of sales of the A7.

With all that being said, it still doesn't interest me. This is an insanely heavy and expensive EV. Audi's ICE models are already very sterile to drive and this will only amplify that. Objectively a good car but not my cup of tea as an enthusiast.

It will definitely be heavy, but one advantage this has over any Audi other than the R8 is that this is essentially a RWD based vehicle with a better weight distribution, and one that hopefully will be able to oversteer more naturally, rather than understeer like many Audi's have been known for.

True. As automakers go to ICE then every car is going to essentially similar weight distribution, power delivery, etc. The driving characteristics amongst brands will become even more homogenized.

Is it me or the rear tail lights look like the arrows are pointing the opposite direction.

Left tail light pointing right >>>
Right tail light pointing left <<<

It's even weirder when they are lit sequentially.

Time will tell
I don't think BMW needs to rethink their pricing. They need to re-think their design language b/c right now it stinks. The e-Tron GT is a beautiful car and I would consider it over the i4 just on aesthetics alone.
