Unless he signs a waiver but I don't think needs the money and has small kids and a nice family. If the Caps get the okay from doctors, I guess they might let him play. What was point of even allowing him to practice? He did look pretty good I might add. |

Sadly, it looks like the Capitals jettisoning Holtby was the right call. Save percentage below 900... not even the better goalie on his team. The guy was clutch for the Capitals for a number of years, and instrumental when they won the Cup in 2018, but he has lost a step or two. I am thinking it is related to when he got poked in the eye by a stick a few years ago, but who knows...

yeah, i was incredibly angry when they let holtby walk, but understood they also had a lot of other needs to fill...and his last season in washington was going in the wrong direction. maclellan definitely made the right call.

Trade deadline approaching! This is one of my favorite times of the regular season. Not only the action on the trade deadline day, but also the anticipation of PLAYOFFS! The players seem to start playing with that much more effort once the deadline passes.

Just a local story for some, but was my oldest kids center on his AAA team growing up, kid was always smaller, moved to D, worked his ass off, and his parents are awesome...fun to have watched Z progress and watch him become a Pro.

And Caps lost to Buff on Nick's 1000 game night. Very Caps..
Was sad to see Vrana go to Detroit in the trade for Mantha. Seems like it was an actual hockey trade. Maybe Caps paid too much, maybe not. Time will tell. Vrana disappeared in the playoffs. If Mantha shows up there on a consistent basis, he will be worth it. Best of luck to Vrana though!

I think the Vrana ana Mantha trade was a great trade for both teams. The caps are already getting production out of Mantha
