CCC unit problems

Hi there,

I’ve just fitted a carplay unit to my 335, everything went ok until the next day when i turned the car on and the screen wouldn’t work, it would flicker grey for a second and then go black, i’ve tried resetting it (hold eject buttons and volume) to no avail. I’ve since removed the carplay stuff (nasty chinese junk) and put it back to standard and the problem persists, radio works fine (by pressing the preset buttons the radio comes on) just nothing from the screen. I’ve made sure everything is connected ok, checked condition of the cables between the screen and the head unit, and condition of fibre optic cables(i’m guessing it’s just the two which plug into the back of the quad lock connector?) but i’m getting to the end of my tether with it now, i’ve got a car in lots of bits and not interested in using it without the CCC unit working. Do we think I need a new screen? Or worse?

Edit - I’ve done a scan with ISTA - and it’s brought back no faults regarding the CCC unit

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks.

Have you measured your battery and alternator voltage.
This is a basic step you should always perform before going
on to the next thing.

also there is and idrive forum here.

Update - i’ve checked fuses, replaced the idrive screen to no avail, i’ve checked all the cabling behind, the LVDS wire and the multi plug to the screen are secure, and the quad lock connector on the back of the head unit is in properly with the fibre optic wire plugged in, but the same scenario, you put the key in, the screen backlights grey for a split second, and then goes black until you take the key out and it does the same thing. Any ideas?

A black screen means that your iDrive system is not working properly or is not receiving a signal from the head unit. Try resetting iDrive. This is a simple way to reboot your iDrive system and clear any glitches or errors.

Update- issue is now resolved, the replacement screen I bought was toast. Replaced the screen with a new second hand unit and it’s fine now. Thanks
