I am currently driving X2 loaner for a few days.

The seat belt pretensioner activates as soon as the car starts moving. My 2017 440i GC doesn't have this feature and I find it ... well ... somewhat unwanted.

Can it be turned off?

The 3-series have this, but my X2 doesn't. Your subject says "in an loaner X2", which would surprise me if it did.

I don’t like it either. The x3 and 5 series loaners have it.

That's interesting, because mine sure doesn't. You're talking about a little snug-type pull when you first start off, right?

This isn't what I'd call pretensioning, which is often (literally) a bullet in the winding mechanism that fires in certain collisions. The snugging appears to me a kind of sensing cycle, to detect whether the belt is buckled, and how large the occupant is. The SRS module uses this information to set the airbag intensity. If my supposition is correct, it won't be defeatable. In any case, I highly doubt it's a profile setting.

What exact X2 model and year is this vehicle?

Huh. My 2020 (October 2019 build) doesn't have this, so it sounds like new equipment is reaching the X2. 'Fraid I can't help you turn it off! Worth asking the dealer when you turn the loaner in, though.
