IMHO, they are not equal for several reasons. I think for one the Honda(as I think all Japanese car companies) has inflated HP numbers, 200hp from the Germans is not the same as 200hp from the Japanese(My last car was Japanese). Besides that and the more "dynamic" experience felt in the BMW, the other factor that impresses me about the BMW(as with all the German cars I've been in) is it feels like it's carved from a solid rock compared to the feeling of many pieces put together feelling I get from all the Japanese cars that I've been in. Just some of the major differences that make it night and day in my book between the cars and companies.

Insurance for me was only a few dollars more a month on the 330. Gas, well at $3/gallon out here it sucks for all. And I stand by my 6k not being that much more, but that may be just me cause I am in a different financial place then some people.

IMO, 330i's is really for professionals that make good money or kids with rich/well off parents who loves them very much(very very very much)

You don't live at home do u?... *Joking*..Just had to say it since when I was your age, most people who had BMW's had decent jobs and lived at home with mom/dad (ie, no living expenses)

Your in the minority for these reasons;
A) 325i owner that could've purchased the 330i(as said many times)
B)$6000.00 is not alot of green to you. It is for me and most people I know.

I had 3 fat guys in my car yesterday afternoon, and for the first time I wished I had more horsepower. It's a rare occurrence that I ever have anyone in the back seat, so it isn't a big issue. Otherwise, the car has enough power for me.

I rather have the extra money for my other hobbies/ investments/ addictions.

the price diff is minimal, even if it was 6 grand (which it wouldn't be if you got power seats, xenons, upgrade audio....)
over 5 years that's 1,200 a year (excluding interest to make math easier)
100 bucks a month

Oh wait, it's not worth it to me to spend an extra 100 a month for what's the exact same car for the 98 percent of the time when you aren't flooring the accelerator

Oh boy. Here we go again. Only now it's not "MY BMW IS BETTER THAN ANY OTHER CAR ON THE ROAD" now we are trying to say how how much "better" the 325i is than the 330i.

Just be happy with your car and stop trying to justify why you did or didn't get a 330i.

Of course it's a financial issue.

6k is alot of money for me, I just decided to invest it in somewhere else instead.

Anyway, I can't really grasp the idea of some (not all, just selected few) 330i owners looking down on 325.... it's just wrong. I guess it's a very superficial world

Anyways, I just wanted to know, am I missing out on much? I know how the 325 stacks up on paper but is there a really noticable difference that you can "feel" while driving?

For all you 325 owners out there, after having your cars for awhile now, do you ever wish you saved up just a little longer to get that "perfect" 330 that we are so close to having? Thanks!!

I wouldn't worry about bragging rights, just enjoy what you have. I see some oneupmanship occuring in this forum but in reality a BMW, any BMW, doesn't even move the needle on the gauge of dream cars. The other day, I pulled up next to a Lamborghini at a stop light. He and I proceeded down the street from stop light to stop light at exactly the same speed so his car was no faster than mine but I am sure that he felt like the king of all he surveyed, and rightly so. I did not feel inferior in the slightest.

I feel your pain! I suspect these type of questions will come up everytime a noob poster joins the board. So get ready for more!

Yeah, but a Lamborghini is just a rebadged Volkswagen.

Or is it a rebadged Audi? Or a rebadged Bentley? Can't remember. Oh wait, they are all VAG products and share some parts so they can't be as good as a BMW.

That one HUGE understatement! The 3 is certainly no "supercar" but most people don't have that kind of cash anyways. The 3 does move the needle in it's price range, and alittle above, maybe not to you who compare apples to oranges, but to most others, including myself.

If I could afford to buy a Lamborghini but choose to drive a 325i does that make me inferior to someone who drives a 330i? No answer required, it's a rhetorical question.

i cant believe anybody looking down on people, just because of what they are driving. if people look down on a 325i, does 330xi drivers look down on the 330i. people work hard for there cars and for someone to think that they are a better person because they have a number 3 instead of a number 2 or a letter x next to there i on the car emblem. they can eat a d...k

I used to drive an 8 year old Jetta GLX, and really enjoyed having no car payment. Then I opted to buy a 330i (I had saved a lot of money with no car payment).

Does that make me superior to a VW owner? Or a 325i driver? Hmm...

Well, I'll answer anyways and you can ignore me! I never mentioned/implied anything regarding 325i's being inferior to the 330i's. In most people's reality, the 325i over the 330i is/was based on price. Nothing wrong with that. Also in most people's reality, even comparing the 3 to any supercar is a joke, even if you could afford a supercar.

Better have lots and LOTS of d..k's to eat cuz some 7, 6 and 5 series drivers look down on the 3. Even between them, they have similiar discussions between them, like some 545's turning a nose at 530's. Even the Honda brand has this. The poor civic poeple get it some times from the Prelude drivers. It's reality, not all people are like that, but some do exist, you can't change that no matter how angry you are.

The original poster's question was not something anyone else can answer for him. If he regrets not getting a 330i, what does it matter what anyone else thinks?

Personally, I don't regret "settling" for a 330i, even though there were other cars I wanted more. Every car has it's strong points and BMW offers a choice because they realize that different people find value in different aspects of cars (price, performance, fuel economy, looks, etc).
