Replaced the Stock Pirellis with Contis
With only 13,000 miles on them, the original P Zeros were dangerously dry rotted (see attached pic), as my wife never drives her X2 and it sits in the sun all day. Decided to go with the same tires I put on all my previous Bimmers and my current MINI Cooper - Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06+'s. I went up in size to 245/35/20s, as that was all that was available. What a difference! Ride quality is great - quiet and comfortable! I haven't tested the performance yet, but I'm sure it'll be night and day compared to the Pirellis.

I'm considering 245 width when I need tires, as I've always thought the 225s looked skinny. If possible could you take a picture from the rear with the 245s? Thanks in advance.

I cannot fathom why BMW spec'd these cars out with 225's.... horrible choice. Going to a wider tire makes the car's look right IMHO.

Not the best pics, but here you go. There's a bit of a difference over stock, but not a whole lot.

No rubbing on the 245s? I’m thinking getting 245/35R20 when my current stock set (Pirelli P Zero as well) wears out… hope to hear from you how they handle and how steering feels

Loving them so far. Drove a little spirited in the rain the other day and they were great. They seem to be a bit louder than the same ones I have on my MINI, but maybe because they are much wider. Still far quieter and more comfortable than the P Zeros.

Nice… safe for me to assume the 245s also improve steering feel a fair bit right?

Yes, steering feel is great. I feel more in control.

Definitely worth it. I had to replace my P Zeros because of the dry rot, but I had intended on getting the Contis before Winter anyway.
