If anyone is interested in this retrofit and does not have access to ISTA, I attach some technical information.

Which Head Unit did you have? I have 6UN - (bigger screen) ENAV Evo / Entrynav2 but not NBT evo... So are you talking about NBT Evo? I thought Europe X1 don't have NBT evo headunits only EntryNav Evo. Are the bumper marks for drilling marked on the bumper so I don't need to get new bumper? What is included in the retrofit kit? I am in the process to performing this retrofit on my 2017/2018 X1 25i.
Mine came with a 6.5" touch screen and factory activated apple carplay. (now I have 10.25") So the first actions I took to in prevent was update the i-level (my case 17-07-503 to 22-11-560). And it carry improvements in the headunit version D1719D1R to T2229C1R. *I don't know if this is a pre requisite for 508/5DP, but I ran it anyway. Originaly my car have only rear park sensors and entrynav 2 basic gps. The list of components I've purchased so far: X1 F48 X1 25iX Operating unit, center console: 61319374834 Set of mounts, front PDC / PMA sensor M: 51118072823 (depends on your bumper) Retrofit kit, Park Distance Control, frt: 66202338070 Grill, side, open, left and Right: 51117453983 (depends on your bumper) 4x Decoupling ring PDC torque converter: 66209283203 Wiring set PDC, front: 61128715299 or 61129392513 2x PDC Sensor Frt: 66209274427 2x PDC Sensor Frt: 66209274428 RETROFIT 5DP 2x PMA Sensor side: 66209274429 2x PMA Connector: 6925597-04 PMA Control module for Park Assistant: 66339495358 3x colors of automotive wire for PMA 20AWG. *PMA cabling needs to be customized. Last weekend I studied where the cables goes and located the PDC connector/module (hard to access), and I also discovered that some electrical terminals and cable spliters are missing for the custom wiring for PMA sensors. So I bought what was missing and I'm waiting to arrive. I still don't know if it will work, but I'll try. The Code, I will do it through the ISTA retrofit session. It should work. |

Cool! Please keep me updated, I will do towing hitch retrofit first after that I think I maybe do this retrofit, only thinking about 508 and skipping 5DP as I don't think the 5DP will add much in practical sense so not worth the cost and extra labour. How do you plan to run the extra wires required for 5DP? I mean physical and how you plan to modify the loom / which terminals? Anyway I think I will run 2 extra wires together with the 6 wires that are going to front (to the X252 connector) leave them behind the BDC in case I want to upgrade to 5DP because I don't know if 508 without 5DP is a valid VO for 2017 / 2018 x1. Haven't seen a 508 only... All vehicles that have front PDC have also 5DP. So then I don't have to run the wire from the front to the back if it turns out it is needed. Also let me know how many hours it took you for installing everything. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BTW I found the wiring looms & Sensors on Aliexpress for way less, anyone experience with the quality? Not so afraid of the wiring loom but the sensor but the price of original sensor is just stupid, 100 EUR per piece. So wondering if someone has experience with the aliexpress ones. If not I will try to find the parts directly from Valeo, just found out you can see in what other brands these sensors are used; https://www.valeoservice.com/en-com/...sist#reference |

The idea of 5DP is for the car to park itself.
About the 5DP cabling, what I understood in the ISTA documentation is that terminal 2 and 13 receive the wires that come directly from the PMA sensors and the 2 remaining wires, Graund and LIN, are shared with the other sensors. I have no experience with this type of retrofit, I'm just a curious IT person. To disassemble it took me 1 hour, studying and identifying the wires +1h. I believe once I have everything needed it will take about 4 hours to perform the retrofit. Exactly, when I started the idea to perform this retrofit I considered buying some components on Aliexpress. 1 of the harnesses and the sensors I bought via Aliexpress but always respecting the original BMW part number and looking for reliable sources of auto parts with good ratings on the platform. In the end my sources were Ebay and Aliexpress to get all the components. |

I understood that from the TIS / ISTA documentation as well but I meant from a practical point of view. What is logical the route the wire / how does BMW that from factory? I already have the R2 en R3 terminals so I only need to route from the PMA module to the X252 terminal for the 4 PDC. The 2 remaining wires from the PMA are I still bit unsure about but when I am doing the 4 front PDC I may aswell run the remaining 2 aswell to a point in front. Hehe same here, IT-person but like doing technical things so it also little bit hobby. How much did end up paying in total? I am currently at 400 EUR. Center console buttons I will get local from scrapyard. But didn’t order yet. Have to fit the tow at first… And see how that goes, if that goes well then I continu with this one. |

I believe the way is through the right side of the car, entering through the fire door and going under the glove compartment in my case where the steering wheel is on the left side.
I'm using the reference of other models that other guys put some pictures on the forum. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1185893 https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1209766 I spent around USD 550 |

Yes i had successes with retrofitting this, but had the workshop doing it. We my car could get only the rear PDC but had to get the full I had retrofitted the full 6UP bigger screen, instrument cluster and controller. So basically i can't answer if there are marks for the PDC sensors. However, firstly I wanted only rear PDC but the car would only accept full park assist. |

Lastly, you need to add 5DP to your VO and VO code the following modules: EPS EGS (not needed on DCT cars) DSC FEM ICM KOMBI HU-NBT REM ICM, FEM, REM are combined in our cars as BDC For 508 one only need to code PMA2 & HU & BDC. Edit: I checked it for you, affected ECUs SAS DSC2 PMA2 EPS BDC_BODY KOMBI HU_ENTRYNAV2 BTW did you need to replace your PMA module? According to TAL calculation and part no it looks that my ECU cannot accept 5DP without replacing PMA module. (Based on TAL calculation, HWEL ids are not the same) Last edited by mrpingu; 07-14-2023 at 04:05 PM.. |

Replacing the module is quite a big price increase. Currently with wire loom and sensors, and switch I am at 250 EUR. Still have to buy the new grills as I cannot find used M-sport grills anywhere for a reasonable price, so that will probably another 150 EUR for plastic. Edit: I will probably try this first; https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/d...#post-13852346 if not I have to buy new PMA module anyway. Last edited by mrpingu; 07-17-2023 at 10:12 AM.. |

Yes, it really is expensive.
I was acquiring the components little by little but even after I thought I had everything, I did a checklist and saw that there were missing cables, terminals, connectors and support for the lateral PMA sensors that I bought an F30 kit. But everything PMA related the Cables needs to be customized. I bought a waterproof automotive connector to be able to disconnect the bumper sensor in case of maintenance as it is in the front PDC. This weekend I finished painting the parking sensors. Because in my case 4 are in the color of the vehicle and the other 2 are matte black like the rear ones. The retrofit working or not, I'll try to take some pictures and make video along the installation process. |

I just received the front bumper wiring loom, Began strippinf the electrical tape on both ends so I can splice the 2 wires (brown and green and the 2 side sensors. Just need to know how long these wires must be. Do you happen to know the distance between the outer front sensors and the side sensors? See attachment for clarification. I also bought a 2 pin connector that I will use for the 2 wires that have to go the back of the car. I will integrate these to wires as much as possible in the existing loom. And then I hope to fit that connector in the area of the X251*1B connector with a tie. |

I decided to pass all 6 cables from the side sensors to the rear of the car and make the Ground and LIN splice close to the connector that goes to the PMA Module. I believe in case of bad contact it will be easier to solve than disassemble the bumper. But it's a choice. I am not happy with one of the connectors I received from china, questionable quality. I'm looking for an original Tyco 6way here in Brazil, so as not to delay the project. I would like to dedicate time in this weekend to do that. |

My mistake thinking I could complete the retrofit in 4 hours.
This is my first time, I have no experience to disassembly the bumper. I'm doing it very carefully so I don't break anything and I'm cleaning the parts to work in a controlled environment. This saturday I was only able to work on the bumper. Next saturday the plan is remove the wheel and mudguard to find the way where the cables will pass into the passenger side. Be carefull with 2 screws on each side that are hidden behind the headlights. The easiest access in my case was through the mud guard. Spare plastic locks needed. They are for 1 time use only. Protect the parts with tape to prevent the plastic tool scratching something. |
