Peak gains were 15 HP & 32 lb-ft TRQ (crank)
Max gains were 30 HP & 48 lb-ft TRQ (crank)

On all the sport tunes the bulk of the additional power is in the lower RPM range with the gains tapering in the higher RPM. Still there, just not as large.

Dinan Tune

Looking forward to getting the green light on it next week. Let us know when it's good to go on the website and I'll put in an order

Specs would be the same as the link provided above for the MINI Cooper S with max gains in the Sport+ setting of about 30 HP and 40 lb-ft of TRQ.

While we did not have time to do a full on dyno test by sending it to an AWD dyno or disconnecting the drive shaft and running it as a 2WD vehicle in house all the data logged indicated it was running identically to the B48 in the MINI both prior to the tune as well as after the tune was installed. This was expected but always better to be safe then sorry.
Is the motor designation between B46/B48 strictly a software difference?

B46 is a SULEV version of the B48. I don't know for certain personally what the exact difference is but if its the same type of deal as the N20 and the N26 the difference lies in the a more restrictive catalytic convertor. The B46 and B48 have the same power ratings so I assume that to be the case.

A slippery slope I what I predict with this diversion in "strategy" for them.

Credit to Dinan for clearly stating the warranty is "out the window" on the product SKU. I used to be in this business and I have to say I would pass on the $300 option/risk at this point. I'm not exactly excited to pay $1500 either for a mild stage one tune on a car, but in this case I would happily do so.

Wow that is actually surprising. Not sure 30hp/40ft-lb is enough for me to void my factory warranty. Would gladly pay more for a warranty-supported solution or at least an undetectable one. If reversed, can I uninstall without a trace? Given how harmless the tune is I'm sure it shouldn't logically affect my warranty but I'm sure it illogically will.

Pretty sure it doesn't affect your warranty bud. You just need to remove it before it goes in for service etc

This is very similar to a BMS stage 1 tune. These piggyback into sensors under the hood (MAF/Intake/Throttle Body) which do not physically change any ECU programming, hence undetectable by the dealer.

You can do your research, BMS and Dinan have been doing these types of tunes for years and have been backed my many members without any issues. Simply unplug the module before heading into your dealer for any service, and MAGIC! They have no way of knowing you ever had one attached. Once you get the car back, plug it back in, and you're good to go.

ehh I've heard horror stories. Verbose logging and all that.

Not a huge deal.. I'll pull the trigger anyway particularly if I can find a Canadian dealer. Our $ is worth.. not a lot at the moment :/

I agree with DJ. I've had various tunes over the years. I tend to prefer Burger Tunes since they have a great system and bang for the buck. Have had tunes for 2 335's and and X3. Just picked up my tune for my 2016 X1 and am installing it this afternoon. I'll report back on the results.

Burger tune still needs clarification. So I installed the tune and the engine sputtered. Talked with Terry with Burger tuning and sounds like they are still getting clarity on the correct tune for the B46 engine. I'm returning the burger tuned and just ordered the Dinan. Unfortunately I won't be able to install that one for a bit. Brought my car to an automated car wash this weekend and it crushed my hood and windshield. Going to be driving a rental for a bit.

Ordered this through Blunttech. Nice little kit. Have it in sport+ and get a nice kick between 2krpm and 4krpm otherwise pretty much similar in the high range.

The company I work for can get these at good prices so might be able to sort something out for others if they want

I have a X1 25D on its way end by the end of September and am interested in a chip tuning box or a remap...

I will be using Racelogic Vboxsport to record the performance of the car before and after....I have read so many posts on other forums that when you test the Chip box it is no way near as good as people think....I am interested in the Race Chip Pro...or Remap...Can you recomend the TMC box?

Well I have one on my Audi and can swear by it.

Hence why I got one for my 25d.

You can even see the difference in the sport gauges on the I drive. Now torque and go are off the gauge!

Be interesting what the Dyno says.... And the app control is fantastic!

What you will find with a lot of companies bar a few will do dynos and use factory figures as base figures even though the cars actual figures were higher than factory figures. Thus showing bigger gains!

....

I tried getting my F48 25d re mapped. The company called back and stated its not worth the hassle. They need to literally dismantle the car a little to gain access to the engine on the F48.

Also, he mentioned he has a friend working in BMW and he said that they will detect it with ease if they feel you are a young driver etc. to void your warranty.

that's why a tuning box is the answer
