Just be aware that these do not come with the HK speaker (separate part number) and obviously left hand and right hand side are different parts also. |

@josephmk door panel removal to fit speakers
Hi, There are two screws hidden in the door handle, if you remove the cover strip on the handle itself you will see the torx screws. I believe there are 3 screws along the bottom of the door panel, if you lie down under the door you can see the recesses. To remove the door, after removing screw, it is easiest to start at a bottom corner and work up along edge using a prise tool (or large plastic trim removal tool) once bottom and side studs are released the panel will hang from top edge so you need to lift up and away. |

7You can use mini F56 dash mounted tweeters which can be surface mounted onto the existing window trim, some aftermarket F48/F39 upgrades use similar approach. IMO it would still be advisable to remove the trim in order to get a professional fit as it is in a prominent position. I have two mini HK tweeters which I bought before deciding to go the full HK trim route, I will check the part numbers and update this post with some pics tomorrow. I didn’t use them because I just did not like the finished look compared to HK mesh trim but it certainly would be a cheaper option although I do not think it would be necessarily an easier fit.

Hey, I have upgraded with the HK tweeters and HK front speakers plus the center speaker, but I have a hissing noise in the tweeters and I don't understand why. I can hear it only if I'm close enough to the tweeter.
The noise is present with the Idrive on mute and with it on volume and it is there no-matter the source of sound. I have a Hi-FI OEM system so I have the non-HK amplifier. Does any of you encountered this problem with the hissing noise? Sorry for my spelling errors, but I hope I made my self clear. Thanks in advance for your interest. |

I am looking to add tweeters in my 2016 X1 as well. 51337435817/18 will come with speaker grid, like what is your photo?
I tried to get some answers from BMW, only got this reply: Good afternoon, Regrettably, it is company policy not to give out part numbers and we do not list a retrofit kit for a speaker upgrade so we’re unable to advise I’m afraid Kind Regards BMW / MINI eCommerce Store |

Depending on your door speakers, you may need a y-cable to power the tweeters. I got focal door speakers & when I added this moulding with HK tweeters, i was able to p-n-p the connection. |

Yeah - some folks have installed aftermarket tweeters & drilled through existing basic moulding. You'll have to rig up something yourself for a clean look but i've seen some pics posted around here & look good.

I'm planning on adding the tweeters to my regular sound system using a Y splitter, and wonder if this is the source of trouble (and hence I'd need to change the mid-range speakers too? or worse, it is due to the amp) |
