That's the sort of thing, except I wasn't looking to spend quite that sort of money Those Focals are listed as 4-inch (10cm) units for around £140, but they don't mention the F48 X1, only the E84. There are some slightly cheaper MB Quart BMW-specific ones (again 10cm) for £93.

So I'm still not 100% sure of the size of the F48 standard door speakers. I'm sure it'll be either 10 or 13cm. I guess I'll have to check it out when I get the car. I have seen BMW adapters for both 10 and 13cm mountings that have the 3-hole "isoceles" pattern to them, and also a Rockford Fosgate mid-range speaker that has a few mounting holes around the edge that may line up, depending on the pitch circle diameter of the mounts.

I think it may be a case of ordering a few options and seeing what fits in a few weeks...

You only have to connect the wires of the tweeters to the medium speaker by soldering or using any kind of wire conector.

Anyone have noticed rumors or noise after the installing?... i'm scared that after the dissasembling of the doors panels i can have rumors all over the place...

The HK stereo upgrade appears to be a very rare feature on used 2016 X1s in the US. As in, I can't find any with it! Would it be prohibitively difficult or expensive to have the dealer install it? Would after market be ludicrous?

I've ordered last week the HK parts suggested, tomorrow i will pick up from the dealer. Not sure if tweeters will be included... i hope so...Any news from other users?

Bad news, tweeters are not included anymore. That was a BMW mistake...They fixed it on july. I Took them because the parts were orderedjust for me, but i'm not sure now if i have to take the harman kardon tweeters, 55 $/€ each, or for the same price, i can take other and better tweeters.

Someone knows the size of the hk tweeter?
Any advice for good alternative tweeters in the same price range(but with better sound)

According to Harman Kardon, it's 26mm (1 inch). But if you will use another pair of tweeters, you will need proper filters also.

thanks, i was also wondering to buy a kit instead of just tweeters (for the same price). Polk Audio seems a good kit, 1" 26 mm tweeter and 6.5" Driver. Do you know if it will fit in the door ? How big is the front driver?

6.5 inch driver will not fit in the door. It should be 4 inch.

Apologies for the dumb question...but what is this mod exactly addressing?

Is the original setup

1) BMW loudspeaker advanced system which has now had a set of HK tweeters added?

Or

2) standard HK setup with HK tweeters added?

Based on the original post I think it is 1)

Brought the Focal IFBMW-S and I just received my F48 18d. May I reconfirm how many screws are holding the door trim to the door? Reading the posts there are 2 behind the door handle and 2 at the door trim bottom.
Want to do the mod tomorrow but don't want to break my brand new car. Thanks!!
