Pictures and additional info on mud flaps:-
FRONT - Pictures 1 & 2 (4 fixings on each) Fixing 1 - need to push (centre punch) inwards the middle of existing fitting. The pin drives in enabling you to the ease outwards the whole of the old fixing. The new fitting is simply a push fit into the existing hole and you then just have to tap in the centre pin. Fixing 2 - mark and drill a 3mm hole at each point into the hard plastic inner wing lining and fit self tapping bolts. Fixing 3 - Unscrew and remove all of existing fitting and push fit new into existing hole and tap in centre pin to fix. All the mud flaps (and as per Z4 PDF) have double sided tape where they contact the vehicle. Pull just the ends of the red tape (that protect the sticky side)outwards so its visible before screwing flaps into place. Once flaps are fixed you can then get hold of the tape ends and pull the tape covering off enabling you to push the sticky side hard against the vehicle. If you take the tape covering off first, the sticky side just gets contaminated before it is in place. REAR - Pictures 3 to 6 (6 fixings on each) Picture 3 - Undo original fixings and replace. No drilling required. Picture 4 - Fixing marked '3' holds a small cover plate that is part of the kit and is attached before mud flap is put in place. Fixing marked '4' is a self taper and goes through the fabric inner wing liner. You can drill or just push a hole through to start the screw. Picture 5 - Replace underside bolt with new fixing. This is also the second fixing point for the small cover plate mentioned above. Picture 6 - Shows rear of mud flap (once fitted) with corresponding fixings. I hope this helps. It's not difficult and becomes a lot clearer when you have the mud flaps held in position. |

Mud flaps
I see a quoted price of 57 pounds (A$115.00) per pair of Mud flaps That's A$230.00 for a full set, which seems awfully expensive. Does anyone know if aftermarket ones are available or where you can buy these for less. |

Pictures attached - 2 taken before and 2 after. I was really impressed about how 'unnoticeable' the film is after fitting. Link to the fitting demo is:- Quality seems fine, fitting very straight forward and I have no doubt it will offer good enough protection. I have recently noticed this company also sells on Amazon. The EBay product looks to be the same but is slightly cheaper. |

I got the same few days ago but still didnt fit it on the car. It is actualy a sticker shaped for rear bumper so I am in doubt how the sun and rain will affect it. Actually I expected it to be more thicker. Anyway, it will probably protect the paint at some level

Have you tried spare parts at a local (ie, Australian) dealer yet?

Boot Liner
I have just ordered this from e bay. I sincerely hope the grey inner liner looks better in reality than in the picture!
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-X1-201...4AAOSweW5VUgx3 I really only need something to cover the carpet when going to the local tip or picking up stuff from the garden centre so whilst the BMW original is very likely to be better quality it costs nearly £80. I might end up regretting it but thought it had to be worth a try. I'll post an update and picture when it arrives. Last edited by Bluezed; 01-25-2016 at 05:41 AM.. Reason: ebay url. |

Hi guys. I just listed an extra set of OEM BMW all weather mats on sale on EBay. The dealer made a mistake in ordering so I now have two sets.

Got these from getBMWparts.com while I was in the US last week:
Got these, too, from Amazon: Still to get: - boot edge protector (as in post #33) - all weather floor mats - touch up paint Still trying to decide whether to get a dashcam (looking at Blackvue). But still a long wait ... |

That's cool eml, are the parts cheaper in the US than in Oz? Guess the currency at the moment doesn't help...
Speaking of dashcam, has anyone here hard wired theirs into the fusebox yet? Having trouble finding any info for the X1 and Active Tourer (should be the same). The location appears to be different from RWD BMWs like the F30 that has fuse box in the boot. |
