Official Mountain Biking thread (MTB)

I see we have a very healthy road cycling thread but no MTB thread!

As a keen Downhill/Enduro rider, who`s been at it 3 years, it would be cool to chat with others who are also interested in this vastly superior form of biking (jokes, couldn`t resist).

This is my Rig, there are many like it but this one is mine!

DMR Sled - GLX Eagle

Look forward to hearing from you all

Mainly XC/AM in Missouri ridding a Cali bike that followed me home from the PNW. I have owned Treks, Cannondales, Kleins, LiteSpeeds and Specialized. I really love this 2018 Intense Primer.

I`d say it doesn't bud

Looks more like an emotor bike to me (very much like the Cake ones in fact). Is it twist and go rather than peddle assist?

All the trails and parks round here would not let you anywhere near them even if it was assisted as it is for sure not a normal ebike!

I bet it`s a right laugh to ride though

Horrible when they do that ehhh

That Intense is a great colour and a very nice looking bike. The angle of the photo makes the back wheel look like it 35 inches though - Reverse mullet.

Ooo and clips - never tried them, but they scare me!

really...? All kidding aside, it is considered a Mountain Bike... it has peddles. Yes, it has a twist throttle too, but you dont have to use it.

Actually, if its a "public or state" trail or park, the have to let you on as it truly is considered a peddle bike. The Park Rangers around my way have them as well... granted, not that type. A majority of them just want to see it and ask about it. I have even been pulled over once in a parking lot. The cop just wanted to know more about... talked to be for like 5 minutes...

We love it... I have one for the wife that is a Fat Tire Bike for the beach and cruising around the parks, and that one. If we go anywhere I usually throw them in the back of the truck and take them with us. We get to sightsee a lot more when your on one.

You should try it...

So I looked this up last night for the UK as didn`t want to just be spouting crap - Will post the link below but the TLDR is that over a 250w motor and/or no assistance over 15.5 mph other wise its considered a motor bike and needs tax and insurance.

All the lads i know with regular ebikes have the de-restricted and bush closer to 30mph but that`s technically an illegal mod.

Got to love the nanny state. . https://www.gov.uk/electric-bike-rules

All parks (the ones i've ridden anyway) do not allow twist a go on site - public parks may be different but I think not (its one google to many for me) as you do not ever see them on the trails.

Again dude, not hating. It`s a great machine, just with the way we look at them in the UK my mind goes straight to emotorbike

That all looks so nice! Think I would need RelaxIN2`s bike to get round though, looks like far to much peddling for my liking

How long was the circuit?

You know what, I'll come to the fence... You are correct, over here in the States it does depend on the specific State, township and in some cases the parks. In my state we are allowed a maximum of 750 Watt motor and/or up to 20 or 25 MPH speed. I believe its 20 MPH. My bike has an ECU and has 2 modes. A street mode that will reduce the power to 750w and 25 MPH... and a Competition mode that will give it the full 5500w of power and speeds up to 52 MHP. I call it the fun mode. I have actually passed cars on the road with. I have to say, the look on their faces when I'm peddling by them..LOL.. cracks me the hell up..

No, note hating at all...we're just having fun..! But, if you You Tube a Stealth B-52 Bomber and look at some of the videos, you see how much fun they really are.

Dont let me side track your thread, I was just having some Mountain Bike fun with you..

Quite funny the name of the trail as I`m currently reading the book Dune!

Have you always ridden clips? Never tried it, even the thought makes me tense up.

Both lovely bikes. My buddy had a black 5010, had a great crash on his first ride. Will see if I can dig out the video as it`s rather amusing

Dude, post and side track away, it`s all good fun.

I watch a guy called Sam Pilgrim on the Youtubes and he has one of the Cakes (which is similar) which occasionally makes an appearance - he back flips and sends that thing crazy big.

---

New tyre arrived for me today - looking forward to the fight it takes to get these on over my Cushcore.......

70km.... If I could even do that, i`d be dead for a bout a week! That some serious peddling.

I do 5 and 6 hour session down the bike park, but that involves lots of walking back up and laying down after crashes
